Look it's our band and we love them and yadda yadda, but I imagine there's not a little bit of "I'll show that short little wanker what's the what! We're Iron Fucking Maiden, and I'm Steve Fucking Harris!" Janick is the relative new guy, Dave strikes me as the kind of guy that wouldn't say shit if he had a mouthful, and ... I don't know about Nicko. I think he would say something if it came to it, but who knows?
I also think, from what I've read, that it wasn't just the songs period, it was the rigors of the road that made it that much worse. And that you can't tell till you're in it. I can sing Hallowed Be Thy Name once, if I had to*, I don't know that I could do it 150 times over the next eight months, in the middle of singing 15 other songs, all while traveling thousands of miles in between. Check that: I KNOW I couldn't do that. This is something that comes up with James LaBrie as well; touring SUCKS for a singer most of all.
* I simply mean hitting the notes; I do not at all claim that it would sound pleasing to the ears.
