I'm not a big Heresy fan.  I do love The Big Wheel.
I like Heresy. Good melodies, and it's also kind of an answer to Scorpions "Wind of Change" lyrically.

Yeah, but Roll The Bones followed a good album..

From my mind to your keyboard.  Thanks for taking the heat, Tim.

The Big Wheel has a strong chorus, but I don’t love the verses. It’s one of the better songs on the second half though.

For me, The Big Wheel is probably the only song on RTB that I would intentionally listen to.  Dreamline is fine but nothing special.  Bravado is blah.  The title track is better ignored.  Face Up?  No.  Where's My Thing? is ok.  I can't really remember heresy.  Ghost of a Chance has a couple moments.  Neurotica and particularly You Bet Your Life are two of the worst choruses in Rush's catalog.  RtB is pretty easily album #19 of 19 in Rush's catalog.

You certainly don't  LOL  BTW, I think Neurotica's chorus is not good at all.  I love the bridge to the solo but that song is a dud.

Surprised to see so much affection for The Big Wheel and it's awful, cringy chorus ("looking for LURRRV"). This album has so many terrible moments that it actually circles back around to being enjoyable to listen to purely to hear all the bad songwriting decisions.

Alex's solo on Ghost is bloody awesome.

So good. Really one of my favorite Alex moments in the catalog.

Also is his demo solo.  He couldn't recreate the magic of that solo from the studio so they used his demo solo for the song.

Wow, I didn't know that, incredible.

Yes because I must write hits to to criticize an already much-criticized album.

I always loved Tom Sawyer when I was a kid but it wasn’t until I heard Ghost of a Chance that I decided to buy my first Rush album, so Roll the Bones is where I officially started with Rush. At the time I thought it was okay, loved Ghost of a Chance, Dreamline and the instrumental, the rest didn’t really wow me. After going through their catalog afterwards and then going back to RTB it was clear to me RTB was rather inferior to most everything else.

I popped it in the CD player for a road trip recently and was really stunned how much I didn’t like some of the songs.

Rush’s all time top 5 worst songs are ALL on Roll the Bones.

But Bravado is not one of them. That song is bloody brilliant!

Yeah, no.  I could see Heresy & Neurotica. The others not in the bottom 5.

No.

Need Some Love is on the self-titled debut.

Red Lenses is on GUP.

Mystic Rhythms is on Power Windows.

Tai Shan is on Hold Your Fire

Hand over Fist and Scars are on Presto

RTB is the worst album, but none of the songs on it are as bad as those songs (and a few others).  RTB is just consistently blah, while other albums have great moments to counterbalance those stinking duds.

What's funny is even the band figured out quickly that Time and Motion sucked.  I guess they convinced themselves that it was worth playing live at the start of the TFE tour, but it was demoted in the set list after one show to being a rotating song and then was chucked for good shortly thereafter.  Has any other song in their catalogue ever been ditched so quickly on its first tour and then never brought back?

Heh, I don’t like Time and Motion either. Though it’s not in their 5 worst songs for me probably.
