Day 1 may actually be the best day for the first time, but that's based on the bands I already know.  I sampled some bands from days 3 and 4 and enjoyed it so I need more listens and then things can change.

Friendly reminder, Day 2 tix go on sale this Saturday.  Whilst I'm not terribly excited about the Day 2 lineup, I'm in for the whole damned festival.

Just made some CD purchases... the new Angra, Frozen Crown, and Eleine albums.  All of course to bring to ProgPower to get signed. I also need to start digging into Love Bites.  But one band (or three) at a time.

So I think I may be able to squeeze in Thursday...If I catch the Wed night redeye after work I can totally enjoy it. I'm waiting till the new year to talk to my boss about the trip. Fri/Sat will be easy since the offices are closed Fri and I can bag early on Thur. It just sucks cause they usually close the offices the week before Labor day, so I'll be coming off a forced week off...we'll see, but I really want to see Scar Symmetry.

I enjoyed my first listen of Winger's Pull.  Never really gave Winger any attention in my life so I'm not familair, but I generally liked the album.  Reminded me of Warrant actually.  That post 80s, early 90s rock that still has that 80s hair metal sound.  Im not immediately sure how they fit in progpower besides being a band Glen apparantly likes and wants, but I'm for it now  :metal (not that I was initially against it, it just initially came off as a joke when the system went out after announcing them in the venue)

The new Angra album kicks ass.  Just elevated Day 1 to potentially the best of all 4 days. We will see about that, but it's looking like a really strong day 1 for me.

The Eleine album is solid, but not incredible.  It may be a bit too dark for this style of music for my tastes.  But honestly, it's just missing some vocal hooks to keep me coming back.  The title track is probably my favorite because it has the best vocal melody.  Theres lots of solid heavy riffs here and the singer is pretty easy on the eyes in the music videos.

Still need to listen to that new Frozen Crown album, but the singles are solid so I think I will like this but need to give it time.

Pull is awesome - my fave Winger album.
Honestly, I was disappointed in the new Angra release.  I felt there were more than a few duds in there.
Only spun Eleine once (before they were announced), and was rather ambivalent about it.  I haven't had a chance to go back to it yet.
Listened to Frozen Crown after that album appeared on Glenn's Top 50 list for the year.  Pretty standard power/fantasy metal.  Nothing wrong with it, but it didn't necessarily wow me.

The guitaring in Frozen Crown is what separated them from standard power metal. Those two shred like it's thrash and I kind of enjoyed that.

Curious as to why Glenn did that, but it really doesn't matter either way. They both get the same set lengths, and I had plans on seeing both. Still have to spin that Winger album though...

It's pretty good, so yeah, listen to it although Im not sure it will be up your alley.

The last band can play longer than 90 minutes. So while realistically, the last two bands usually play the same length, it's not a given.  SOA played their full 2 hour headline set when they headlined.  I feel like Voyager played forever when they headlined. But usually a headline set is around 90 minutes so it often works out to be the same.

That's because the place would be 1/2 empty for Winger if they closed.

This way, it'll at least be 2/3 full.
