That's one awesome album. It's clear to me that the mastermind behind Rhapsody of fire was Luca. The detail and level of craft on his albums is far superior to Rhapsody of Fire's latest post-Luca outputs.

Luca was definitely the defining sound of ROF, but Prometheus was a huge letdown imo. Ascending To Infinity was great though. ROF hasn't interested me at all since Luca left, it just sounds generic now.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Well I agree more with DarkLord about Prometheus. Granted, it was not as good as ATI, but I still enjoy it. You're both right, and it was something I always assumed as well, that Luca was the man behind the greatness of Rhapsody. I would imagine the keyboardist also played a big part in the orchestrations as well. To me, Luca is like Neal Morse. Once Neal left Spock's Beard, the music changed, and it was not as good as old SB or Neal's solo work.

It needs multiple listens. Headspace is NOT background music.

You know, I really hate it when metal bands have their logo in such a stylicised font that you can't read the band name.

(Big Hath, consider this a subtle inquiry into the band on the top right of your post.)

It's Bornkagar or Borknagar or something like that. I saw it in the record store recently and asked the seller guy which band was it. :lol

Edit: googled it, it's Borknagar indeed.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

heh, it's actually one of the more legible ones I think.

Not bad.  A couple of tracks stood out from the others, but that was just my first listen.

Nice. I completely forgot about that album, it's probably been 3 or 4 years since I heard it last time. Got to change that soon :tup

Yeah this was my first time listening to it. Very solid album. This was also my first time listening to anything by Chuck Schuldiner as I dont listen to death due to not being a fan of that genre. I can tell just from this one release that he was a very talented person and its a shame he passed because I would have liked to see where he went next with this.

Their last two albums are practically really heavy progressive metal albums with growls. I'd recommend you to check them (Symbolic and The Sound of Perseverance) and try to ignore vocals at first if you don't like growls.

It's been indie day for me.

I'm with you there. This is a very good album though. It might be worth you trying Death's Sound of Perseverance as it's similar to this.

The Control Denied is very good. I can take Death in small doses. Some of their music is earth shatteringly mind blowing. But those vocals...
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

While it doesn't have the same highs as Descension (the first half up to Gravity Union is amazing), I find Ascension to be a much more consistent album. I don't really care for the second half of Descension and on Ascension the only song I dislike is Goodnight Fair Lady. Super fun to play on guitar too.

As for TesseracT - One, well it has officially become my favourite album of theirs.

Pinkerton is the only one I know. I was planning to check their first self titled for quite some time but I always get back to Pinkerton instead.
