Just saw The Prestige.

Ho. Ly. Shit.

I've been meaning to watch that after I saw it in this list (https://www.nerdacy.com/2013/03/22/most-mind-bending-movies-ever-made/) of "the most mind-bending movies ever made". I have always liked those type of movies and all the ones I've seen from that list are amazing. The list suffers from a lack of Donnie Darko and The Butterfly Effect, though.

I'm amazed at the lack of "Persona," "2001: A Space Odyssey," "El Topo" or "Eraserhead" for that matter. Clearly this person hasn't really looked much into the realm of 'mind-bending' films.

After having watched Kill Bill vol 1 several years ago, I finally got around to watch vol 2. I think I would say that the first one was slightly better, even though the second one was pretty damn entertaining as well.

The buried alive sequence was really well made. Very freaky and well acted by Thurman.

That film is hard to watch since going blind and being buried alive are like my two worst fears :lol

Completely agree.

Finally saw Seven Psychopaths last weekend.  I like it but it wasn't at the level of In Bruges.  Still a very good movie.

Kill Bill 1 is what made me go to film school. Love that movie.

I think it's interesting how Volume 1 and Volume 2 have such different tones.  Volume 1 is a bloodbath and has the trademarked Tarentino messing around with time and stuff, but Volume 2 is almost straight narrative with relatively few casualties, though those few arguably have much greater impact.

And yeah, the buried alive sequence and the eye-plucking thing are both pretty grim, and oddly enough both tie back to the Pei Mei flashback.  That flashback seemed to go on a bit, and I was wondering what the point of it all was, but sure enough, it led to not one but two payoffs.  Tarentino again; you never know what's gonna come back and be important later on.

Yeah, it's probably my favorite film by Tarantino.

I still can't pick a favorite. I like all of them, each for a different reason. First one is great. Dark, peppered with good action and humor. 2 through 4 are hilarious; 4 almost feels like a parody of the series, but I still love it.

4 feels exactly like a sequel to a trilogy.

Like - well we've done a trilogy but the last one was so successful - let's just do another one for the hell of it.

Agreed. Many of those are really stretching the definition of 'mind-bending.' WTF are Inception, The Prestige, Shutter Island, The Matrix, and Cloud Atlas doing on that list? I could even be convinced that maybe Memento really isn't all that mind-bending either.

Well, it's not really he's pushing on us, but hef says no, it's a great movie, and zook says yep, then I quote hef, and he says yep again, and it just felt kind of redundant, like zook is standing his ground or something.  :lol

No reason he shouldn't stand his ground, if that's his honest opinion.  I just disagreed with him.

Everyone was raving about this movie. So when I finally saw it, it didn't quite live up to the hype, hence the over hypeness. I enjoyed the other Marvel movies more. Great movie, but it wasn't non stop laughs and action, but some laughs and a lot of action. Avengers was better, and I agree with my brother, Days of Future Past was also better. Still looking forward to a sequel, but it just didn't quite live up to the massive smile storm it created.
