Call me crazy but i really wouldn't mind if Sonata would go back to a pop rock-ish style.

At least Tony is a much better vocalist and lyricist nowadays! :lol I wouldn't probably listen to them if they had kept the Tricky Beans name and the old style!

I agree on the lyric part, the lyrics in Unia and TDoG are wonderful.

The Days of Grays is a great album. No Dream can Heal a Broken Heart has become a big favorite of mine.  :D

EDIT: Reading through the thread, I came across the idea of running a Sonata Arctica survivor. Anyone up to this?

Yeah, I ran the SA survivor! It ended in December, if I remember correctly, and The End of This Chapter was the winner.

BTW, looks like they have finally noticed the fans' complaints about not changing setlists, as Blank File and The Misery have returned to the set!

I'm okay with The Misery but never really cared for Blank File.

???

Blank File is amazing! It's great to see how it came back.

I'm really hoping White Pearl, Black Ocean makes it to the new DVD release.

I heard they filmed the Sonata Open Air '09 show in Finland as the bonus show for the next DVD (the main show will be filmed in April) and they played WPBO there, so it'll probably be on the DVD!
I'm okay with The Misery but never really cared for Blank File.
For me it's the other way round! :lol I've actually grown to like The Misery recently, though. Blank File is quite impossible to sing, so they've transposed it down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnETlv6SAO4

I agree with Kosmo, the vocal melodies in the studio version are way too high for Tony, in the live version his singing sounds much more natural and comfortable. San Sebastian, Weballergy and Wolf & Raven have been played transposed too, and I think this live version sounds much better than the studio version of W&R: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JaXzfHOL3o

Letter to Dana, Mary-Lou and Shy... now those are rare live songs! I wish they'd play at least one of those songs in Finland...

I really like that set list. Glad they're doing Mary Lou as an acustic since it's better then the normal version.

Check the other videos from that Blank File guy. He's got almost the whole concert on tape. Good stuff.  :metal

EDIT: Tony's performance on The Misery is breathtaking. I really hope that makes it to the DVD.

Damn, I want them to play The Truth is Out There. I fucking love that song.

There's something incredibly epic about 2:18, I can't even put my finger on it.

Erm, isn't it cello? Perttu Kivilaakso (Apocalyptica) is credited for playing cello on some songs on TDOG and TTIOT is one of them.

That's true. I could be wrong but it sounds rather like a soprano saxophone than a cello though.

It does sound like a cello.

Either way, the whole song is awesome.

SA filmed the last Friday's gig for their next DVD! This was the setlist: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sonata-arctica/2011/club-teatria-oulu-finland-7bd3aab8.html
I've heard that the Sonata Open Air show from '09 will be included as bons material and the setlist there was this: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sonata-arctica/2009/sonata-open-air-kemi-finland-7bd7b6fc.html
Many good song choices IMO! :) I wish they had included Gravenimage, It Won't Fade and The Dead Skin too, though.

Another small complaint I have is that they could have left Replica and Victoria's Secret away from the new DVD setlist, 'cause those are on FTSOR already. Fullmoon and Don't Say a Word are too, but those 2 are just fan-favorites that they kinda have to play at every gig.

White Pearl, Black Oceans is there. I really hope it makes it to the DVD extras (It makes sense, considering several of the songs played in the 09 show were played in Oulu)
