All the reviews I have seen have been pretty positive.

aside from me , Evermind and Bolsters   :P  It's not an awful album by any means but it's just so boringly familiar and uninspired IMHO and that's why I feel a bit  when I see it getting 90-100% everywhere. Outside of DTF the mr.com virus seems to be spreading when it comes to ratings.

I have so much music to get through that I really can't see me playing it again.  The best song on Kiske/Somerville would perhaps be better than one , maybe two on the last Unisonic.   Stuff like that and Place Vendome (esp the first ) are on another level in all aspects for me  .

You said the word I think I've been looking for in regards to a lot of music these days, uninspired.  Hit the nail on the head.  That's the problem with a lot of music these days and some of the melodic rock stuff, it just doesn't seem genuine anymoe\re.  You can really tell a good album from a band that has a vision and is inspired these days.  Karlsson can put out great tunes, but this album is anything but inspired.  He was told to write an album for these two, and he did.  I think that's why I'm flicking so much music these days, I want something that really has had some thought and hard work put into it.

That first Place Vendome is fantastic. The second two..not so much.

But you ARE recommending the K/S right?
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

The Impellitteri is good , although for me it's the opening (title) track and then the rest .   It's more metal than even you jj  ;D     The opening line by Rob "Are you ready..........one........two.....three..........VENOOOOOOOM" is worth the price of admission alone  :lol and that riff is a ripper.

Having said that there are more stand out tracks on some of his earlier albums like Answer To The Master.  Venom is a very solid (if one dimensional) album though and Rob Rock is powerful as always.

Yet, you're contemplating spending money on something with Kiske singing on?

City of Heroes is way better than the debut. Sure they ripped off Madonna and Katy Perry, and a grown man in his 50s used the word "daddy", but the melodies are better, and Amanda has a bigger role as she should. Kiske is overrated as fuck anyway.

I missed the Daddy line. Which song was it in? I stopped paying attention to the lyrics after Salvation, admittedly.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

The only lyrics from that one I can recall are "Monday morning - rain was pouring" and the first line of the chorus. I totally missed this daddy thing.

Still one of my favourite songs from the album though.

He is. His vibrato is awful, and while he's a good singer, he's nothing special AT ALL.

I believe it's the daddy song that has a keyboard melody that's identical to a vocal melody from Katy Perry's Dark Horse. Not sure which song has the Madonna vocal melody.

Not a very good one, which is the case with most of her music. The melody in question is when she says "are you ready for, ready for". I know it's not much, but that's all I can hear when that keyboard bit comes on.

Well, good thing Nick Van Dyk didn't create this music cause right about now he'd come tell me how wrong I am.

Listening to it again, it doesn't sound nearly as similar as when I first heard it, but it still reminds me of that Perry line just sped up.

Right before the solo at 3:12, and at the very end.

I can't find the Madonna melody. I know it's there damn it! This isn't This Mortal Coil part 2!

The Madonna melody is in Run with a Dream. The line "I can remember how we started". :43

These are all nitpicks of course, and nothing serious. Hell, Nightwish's new album pretty much has the same guitar riff in every song, but I still love the album. Maybe they did it on purpose as a theme. Still lazy though.

Me neither. It's driving me nuts!  :yarr

EDIT: Like a Prayer. Again, not identical, but very reminiscent. 2:12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fzeNUqQbQ

And again, this is petty nitpicking, I know. I just can't help but notice this stuff, then obnoxiously point it out.
