To me, SW's best at singing, so him not being the lead vocalist is what puts me off No-Man.
I guess you weren't too keen on the last couple Blackfield albums, then, were you?
I like Steven's singing, but his instrumental skills are pretty top-notch, as well as his compositional skills. With No-Man, he knows how to create, change, or maintain a mood throughout a song, or even across the whole album. They're very album-oriented, and while there are "singles" in the albums, they're all best heard as whole albums, especially their last three. I mean,
Together We're Stranger opens with a four-track 28-minute suite of pieces that is just divine. I think some of SW's best work lies in No-Man, lead vocalist or not, just for how beautiful the music can be.
