1. Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye: I have tried time and time again to make a really good write up for this, but I really truly couldn't, so I'm just gonna type out something and post it to get this shit done with. Simply put, Choirs of the Eye is my favorite album ever, and still one of the most unique and magical listens I've ever experienced. Combining elements of jazz, metal, post rock, and spatterings of a half a dozen other styles, Choirs is an incredible musical achievement. Numerous 'avant garde' bands combine genres, but the result is often a cut and paste type sound. Listening to a song you can say "oh, here's the metal bit", and "oh now here's a some jazz", etc. etc. With Choirs, the result is simply a new sound - even going from ethereal soundscapes to metal/screamo, it sounds as if it would be strange of them to not do such a transition. That's something I can't say about many other bands or albums, and even out of the ones I can Choirs of the Eye reins supreme.
Well, that's all folks. Sorry for all the delays and general bullshit. If you haven't listened to Choirs of the Eye do it right the fuck now.
