YES! Somebody else that loves Bedlam!  Mine is very similiar:

Bedlam is the craziest album I've ever heard, and I fucking love every second of it. I feel like it get's a lot of hate, and I just don't understand.

Amputechture is still really good, but the "vibe" of that album never meshed with me as well as the other ones. Not sure why, I think it might be the production.

I definitely agree about the whole not meshing thing. It's never really worked for me. Also, I hate to put Amputechture at the bottom because my favorite Volta song is on there (Day of the Baphomets), but like I said, the whole album overall just doesn't really do it for me.

I love Bedlam. Right now it's tied with Deloused as my favorite Volta record.

Tremulant is probably the most solid thing they've released.  So fucking good.

Deloused
Bedlam
Frances
Octahedron
Amputechture

Deloused is one of my favourite albums ever, Bedlam is so rocking and fun and batshit crazy and unique that I never get tired of it, Frances has some great moments (and I love Miranda), Octahedron has some great melodies and is a really great chill out album, and Amputechture is solid - if not spectacular.
I punch those numbers into my calculator and they make a happy face.

Part of me would like to finally get up to date with this band before their new one comes out. That means getting both Bedlam and Octahedron. In the next two months. Doable.

Tremulant EP is pretty awesome, although I wouldn't say it is their best release.

I love Eunuch Provocateur though  :heart :heart

So I've been listening to Frances the Mute a lot lately because it always seems to be stuck in my head in the morning, and I just realized that L' Via l'Viaquez is one of the coolest songs that I've ever heard. The groove that Jon Theodore and Juan have going in that song is just so good. Plus all the Spanish that Cedric has going just adds to the awesomeness. And who could forget the amazingness of John Frusciante's solos? And of course Omar is just Omar throughout the entire thing, and the final guitar solo pretty much epitomizes the way he plays guitar. It's definitely my favorite track off of Frances.

I've no idea why I've never posted in this thread before... TMV are one of my all time favourite bands. In fact, I'm a little worried that this ATDI reunion is going to take the focus off of TMV's output... I really hope that isn't the case.  :-\

Here are my rankings with favourite songs, for what they're worth:

Frances the Mute - Miranda That Ghost etc. (Only album where I like absolutely every song.)
Amputecture - Tetragrammaton
De-Loused - Cicatriz Esp.
Bedlam in Goliath - Agadez
Octahedron - With Twilight As My Guide

Limited input here since I'm not familiar with Amputechture or Bedlam:

Deloused - Roulette Dares
Frances the Mute - L'Via L'Viazquez
Octahedron - Halo of Nembutals

The first time I put Bedlam in, I had a HUGE smile on my face!  That's how I know an album is going to be killer.  Pridgen's drumming and drum sound really did it for me.

Since we seem to be doing the favorite song thing...

De-Loused: Cicatriz ESP
Frances: L' Via l'Viaquez
Amputechture: Day of the Baphomets (Their best song IMO)
Bedlam: Goliath
Octahedron: Cotopaxi

I thought about this as well, but I really don't think it's going to effect TMV that much, but with Omar you can never be certain what's going to happen.

"Cotopaxi" is definitely my favorite from Octahedron as well.  And "Day of the Baphomets"... epic percussion section!!!   :lol

Deloused: Eria Tarka. What a beautiful song. Roulette Dares, Televators, and Son et Lumiere/Intertiatic ESP are also winners.
Frances: Extremely difficult, since I tend to look it more as one album than a collection of songs. I guess if I'm only going to listen to one song from the album, I'd pick L'Via or Cygnus, though if I'm listening to the entire album Cassandra Geminni is my favorite, if that makes any sense.
Amputechture: Day of the Baphomets. That instrumental section is just killer.
Bedlam: Goliath. NEVER HEARD A MAN SPEAK LIKE THIS MAN BEFORE
Octahedron: Since We've Been Wrong.

Deloused: Drunkship of Lanterns by a mile. I first heard this and Tira Me a Las Aranas or whatever it is as one track, so to me, they're the same song, which just makes it even better.

Frances: Cassandra Geminni is possibly my favourite prog epic ever, so that.

Amputechture: I'd probably say Asilos Magdalena, though the song on either side of it could also take it. That trio of tracks is just great, going from jazzy to Spanish acoustic to heavy funkiness.

I haven't listened to Octahedron enough so I won't put that on the list but:

De-loused: Cicatriz ESP
Frances: L'Via L'Viaquez
Amputechture: Day of the Baphomets
Bedlam: Goliath

I'm glad they are changing the artwork up a bit. Wasn't a fan of Amputechture's album cover and although I've never really looked closely at Octahedron that one didn't seem very appealing either. Bedlam has an awesome cover that fits the feel of the album though!

I thought I read somewhere (maybe this thread?) that Volta wouldn't be going back to "old" Volta, so I wonder if this album will be very spacey and atmospheric like Octahedron... if so, it seems that type of music would fit the cover perfectly.

Love the song titles, and the album artwork looks spacey.  If it's more like Octahedron I'll be a happy man, although I love all of their work anyways.  Octahedron is always a great listen.

Either direction would be fine with me. The crazy TMV is the one I fell in love with, but I do also appreciate the more mature direction they took with Octahedron. I'm just excited to finally have more than 6 hours of Volta on my computer.

According to an article on RollingStone's website the new album is going to be telling the story of a character inspired by Superman villain Solomon Grundy and the Greek myth of Hyacinthus.
