Honestly, if you had asked me a year ago what the odds were that the next Dream Theater album would be Metropolis, Pt. 3, I would have said less than 1%. Now, I would say 15%. I still don't think that's what it's going to be, but I now think it's definitely possible.

Even though I don't think it will be a metropolis pt3..

the idea is not really hard to pull off.. you got the hypnotherapist who now has become a serial killer (his patients).. the album about his life's story, he being "possesed" by Edward had him diagnosed with bipolar dissorder or multiple personality dissorder as a kid and put him under medication and stuff and it all has gone wild after the Nicolas Incident... you could even throw some SDOIT motif/themes on it.. The character has huge potential to be developed.

But again, I really don't think it will be a metropolis pt3.

DT used to make short vids for a certain site similar to Vine, answering fan questions. One of them was "Would you do Metropolis PT 3?", and iirc, Jordan replied something like " I don't think so - it'd be like a bad sequel to a great movie. Better leaving it like that."

Another interesting nugget was about the possible return of Nightmare Cinema (with Mangini this time), but I remember JP replying, while half-laughing, "No, it won't happen. Definitely."
