From Jordan's FB:

"The new Dream Theater album mix in well underway"

So now we know there is a piano and an organ. Hahaha

BlobVanDam

However, we are still yet to confirm whether that is a dirty organ or not.

He was told to get it checked out 8 years ago. I'm sure he's cleared it up by now.

So they will play it backwards?

To be quite honest, I have no idea what he means. So maybe! :P

Maybe they should go back to Dave McKean. Or they could get JH Williams III, the artist of the most recent Sandman series.

Breaking news, DT13 cover leaked! ;

Darkstarshades

I think the 2016 date they gave us is a little exaggerated, I mean...
Starting postproduction in October and waiting 3 whole months to get it out?

Personally if I took that long to launch an already finished project, I'd probably want to make changes eventually. Idk, I wonder why they gave such a distant date. I think they underestimated the time, or whathever, odd.

No that's pretty standard for professional musicians. First you need to get the product completed, then you need to promote it for a couple of months to build hype, releasing artwork and single and so on.

Yeah, the standard promo cycle once the album is completely finished (meaning mix and master done) is usually a couple months to do press. This seems like they are actually right on schedule for a late Jan. or Feb. release, like they said before.

kaos2900

I remember hearing at some point that unless you a huge artist (Taylor Swift) no one releases albums in November or December.

kaos2900

Can someone please copy & paste what was on facebook? I'm not on it and can't open it work. Thanks!

It's just photos of the mixing desk with the caption "...and so it begins" from JP, and "The new Dream Theater album mix in well underway" from JR. You're not really missing anything, it's just a confirmation that mixing has begun. :)

Nothing odd about it.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Kotowboy

Yeah nothing weird there. Mixing, Mastering, Duplication, Promotion, Filming the first video etc etc...

All takes a lot longer than three months.

Assuming the album is DONE by the End of October. February / March isn't out of the question.

My guess on that would be that a lot of big names probably see that as 'blockbuster' season, right before the holidays. With a lot of big releases getting all the attention, everyone else would risk getting lost in the shuffle. Releasing during a less busy time of year makes people more likely to notice that release specifically, and a band or artist with a dedicated following will get it whenever it comes out anyway; for them, the album being purchased as a gift is less of a factor.

Stadler

One Direction's new album is out in about a month.   Like them or not, they're huge.

Definitely. They'd be one of the 'blockbuster' acts that is known enough to benefit from the holiday season.

By dedicated, I meant to phrase it as "smaller but dedicated following", but forgot to.

Well yeah - they needed to wait for the Saint Anger hype to die down :p

Imagine being in Dream Theater back in 2003

" Guys - Metallica took like 6 years to make St Anger and it's garbage. We wrote our album in 3 weeks and it's so much better ! " :hifive:

Wow, what the hell happened to the website? Is that a robot version of the Majesty symbol. Looks all techy and stuff. Maybe the new album will be about some crazy technological uprising.
