That costs like twice as much as the copy from Roadrunner doesn't it?

DeanTheater

The price always drops.  And I dont buy enough anymore where price matters.  I want the CD on the day of release and Amazon has always been good for that

Preordered my CD on Amazon.  Will arrive on release date with price adjustments, should it drop.  Cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see it available in the Amazon music store...there are two high-priced imports listed but nothing else. Do you mind posting a link to where you ordered it? Amazon would also be my preferred method of ordering for the reasons you mention.

here is the Link.  Are you in the US?

Yup. And thanks!

I don't trust preordering on Amazon anymore after what happened with Impermanent Resonance.  :yeahright

In your case, I think you ordered late enough they ran out of the original stock they had. Mine shipped last night! albeit, I didn't get it release day.. it's not 7+ days late like yours.

Most of the stuff I preorder on Amazon hits my desk at work on release day.

TL

My experience with Amazon in Canada is that they tend to be really good at shipping in stock items quickly, but pre-order items are a bit of a gamble.

Anyway, I'm leaning toward the Vinyl/Digital version at the moment.

aprilethereal

The standard edition is still not available on amazon.de :-\

Lucien

Preordered this along with the remix of Rush's Vapor Trails (october 1st, 2013)

EDIT: ignore this post, I misunderstood something

I'm not saying this particular 5.1 will be great, but any of you who haven't heard a good 5.1 mix are truly missing out.

ditto that.  I've had some extraordinary listening experiences with 5.1 music.

I agree. My favourite is Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells 5.1 mix it blew my mind when I heard it the first time. Pink Floyd's DSOTM and WYWH is also awesome

Big Hath

oh yeah, those Floyd albums are brilliant in surround.  Some people don't care for them, but I think all the 5.1 Porcupine Tree albums sound great as well, even the ones that Wilson didn't do the surround mix on.

Those are amazing. I just wish he'd go back and do the pre-SD stuff.

Pre-ordered the standard edition from Roadrunner this morning, primarily for the immediate download on release day.  Got a scare when my confirmation email never arrived, but I seem to have gotten it all straightened out with RR's customer service.  DTDT, here I come.

Pre-ordered the box set.

My body is ready.

I have got a couple of questions. Usually when i order albums i do it from the swedish website cdon.com, that way the shipping is cheaper to Norway. However if i pre-order the album there, will i get the same instant download links? How much more expensive would it be to order it from roadrunner? By the way, i'm pre-ordering the deluxe edition.

YtseCullen

I didn't get a conformation email from roadrunner, is that normal?

No... I got my email response from RoadRunner almost immediately after I placed my pre-order.

Same thing happened to me, email them and ask them to re-send the confirmation

Check out the EU shop, probably a lot cheaper than ordering from the US. I don't know the shipping cost to Norway, according to the FAQ you'll have to try to order it to find that out. (Obviously, you'll see it before actually sending the order, so you can still decide otherwise.)
Since Norway isn't a member of the EU, you don't have to pay VAT there either... Probably the cheapest way for you to get the Deluxe edition. :-)

I'd be tempted to drop a few bucks if the clear 7" was available separately, especially for an exclusive track.  It's their first vinyl single in what...20 years???  They could have a BTV remix contest and the winning song would be the b-side.

TL

Hmm. Canadian Amazon has the vinyl for about $30 CAD right now.
On the one hand, it's definitely cheaper, since there's no exchange, no import fee, and free shipping instead of $15 USD. On the other hand, I don't know if it comes with the FLAC download (that seems like it would just be through Roadrunner), and Amazon can be a bit hit or miss with shipping pre-ordered items.

Sorry if this has already been explained, but with the FLAC download, do Roadrunner send you a code or link that becomes valid on the 24th, or is it going to be on an insert that comes with the vinyl?

But then you have to add the norwegian VAT, which is 25% :P

RoeDent

I'll be on holiday during release week, so if I preorder it (when it becomes available on Amazon UK), it has 6 days after release for it to get to my door. Plenty of time, I think.

cdon.com doesn't offer instant download links. If I understood correctly, that thing is Roadrunner shop exclusive. I can't answer your other questions because I haven't ever bought anything outside my country.

Btw, cdon sucks. I have ordered a couple of times a cd from there and I had to wait it at least 3 months... in one case 6 months... And it says delivery takes 2-5 weekdays. So I won't order anything from there any longer.

Right, however you probably don't have to pay VAT up to a certain amount.
E.g. in Switzerland I don't have to pay VAT for imports if the VAT would be less than 5 CHF. At 8% VAT, that means that imports up to 62,5 CHF are VAT-free for me, which are about 50€ or $67.

like an idiot i preordered the box set from my phone as a guest. didnt set up an account with RR cause im lazy. Can't download TEI. Also too lazy to email them.

probably good so I dont overplay the track

aprilethereal

really strange that it's still not on Amazon. I don't want to preorder it from :soon: because the shipping is way too expensive :|

Mindflux

I'll get the Standard Jewel case CD on release day from my local HMV.

Really disappointed that the CD/DVD only has the 5.1 mix.

I *always* buy special editions of albums. I get more for my money and the artist gets a bit more.

But this time - there really is no point.  :sadpanda:

Just. This.  :-\

I was on the fence if I should go with the standard edition or not, but where I ordered from it only cost 10 more SEK (about $1.50) so what the fuck. I guess I'll spin the 5.1 DVD once.
