So "The Enemy Within" is the beak of a humming bird acting as a foreign body inside the guy's ear.

Good point! I wonder if they'll get the same recognition, a nomination would be AMAZING. Would they win? Probably not, but it would still be great exposure and an achievement for the band.

That'd be great, but I'd prefer it to be a great song rather than a commercially-accessible song. Sometimes the two go hand in hand, but rarely with DT. I think their mainstream-ish songs are just average.

It would help to bring more of an audience to the band though, if they were nominated. The more awesome people we have around here, the better.

It can be both though. These Walls, Hollow Years, and plenty of other songs they made, I would consider great and commercially accessible.

I dunno man, last time around they got nom'd for OTBOA and that song is in the less commercially accessible pile of DT songs.

Oh thanks sweet DT for giving me a birthday present  :heart.

So, a humming bird is hovering by a big bald guy with no shirt on, who has the majesty logo tattooed on the back of his head.

Perhaps the bald guy is in prison (perpetuating the idea that the enemy inside is about personal demons) and the humming bird represents his coming to grips with the enemy within, allowing for his freedom....

:justjen

He could also be a soldier! The buzzed head could definitely show that, and that he's not fighting the enemy on the battlefront but the enemy is himself and the hummingbird is the epiphany about that.

I might be way off base, I just woke up and im still half asleep  :-[

This 100% of the way.

There are some bands with incredible musicians that DO make great commercially-accessible songs; Mr. Big comes to mind. I love the commercial element in Mr. Big combined with excellent musicianship on strings. Winery Dogs is another example. Unfortunately, DT efforts of similar kind have failed in spectacular fashion.

NOMINATED. Sor-ee. I only nom cookies and cake and ice cream and chocolate :mora:

My point being, it might as well not be commercially accessible, and loads of commercially accessible DT songs are fucking boss anyway.

OMG I didn't realize... Monday is 8/5. NUGGETZ PLZ

5/8 in the UK, where we use dates properly.
^ Yup.

Why exactly is day/month more "proper"? Just wondering.

Grizz

Because if America does something differently, to the rest of the world, it's because we're stubborn.

The best way IMO is YYYY-MM-DD because then it's easy to sort by date.

:lol

This is one where it makes literally no difference. One country says today is the third of August, the other says August 3rd. They're the same damn day regardless!

Apparently so.  I mean, the metric system thing is incredibly stupid. I wish we were on the metric system.

I just don't understand this feeling of inherent superiority that some Europeans have over Americans, especially on the internet.

Then again, maybe I'm just being cranky.. /rant

Back on topic.. pumped for the new single, but it probably won't be near the best on the album. If it's really good, we'll know we have a great album to look forward to  :metal

The reason is that it should either ascend or descend in order. So Date-Month-Year is fine, or Year-Month-Date is fine (the latter is particularly good for sorting things).

Month-Day-Year makes no sense.

Yeah, but wouldn't you say, "August 5th, 2013" rather than "The 5th of August, 2013"?

Thematt202

Lighten up guys, my UK/Euro brethrin were only joking around!   Personally, I prefer our way of writing dates for the simple reason that Day, Month, Year follows a more logical pattern than Month, Day, Year.

Same, both are fine when said in words. But when written numerically, it should make numerical sense.

It's really strange that the Majesty Symbol is cut-off on the released photos.

Mebert78

Wow, USA Today? That's interesting. I can't wait to hear a new DT tune. This oment only happens once every couple years, and I don't take it for granted. For some reason, the album singles are never among my favorites from the album when it comes to DT, but im still psyched.

Hummingbird.   :heart

Not so much  :heart for the guy with the shaved head.  But he's interesting, too.  I'm still wondering if he has cancer - that could be the reason he shaved his head, and it could be the enemy inside him.

I really wish the band went with completely original artwork instead of hiring someone to use stock images. I'm becoming slightly tired of it, but that's just me. And then again, this is only the cover for the single...

I politely disagree. It feels quite a bit more commercial to me than a lot of DT's music, mainly because I feel it's a safe song that doesn't venture that far into DT's sound. It feels 'By the books'.

YtseJamittaja

So here's another copy paste work from H. Syme. I can't understand why they don't hire a new guy to do album art. It could be much more interesting even though Syme's work has become really recognizable in DT art work.

I'm still okay with these images but it's sad that somebody finds the original photo in seconds...

nicmos

I'm expecting something along the lines of BMUBMD, which is not a problem at all for me.  (I know some people don't like that one, but I think it's enjoyable.)  It's accessible, but still off-kilter enough with some non-standard harmonies to make it interesting.
