They all reprise certain songs?

Mirror SDV
Lie Mirror
Repentance This Dying Soul

Very cool about SDV, but no.

This one is kind of tough (I thought)

John94

Damn, thought it was that!

How about they all refer to mirrors/The Mirror.

Metrovarium

When is SDV reprised in the Mirror?

Nope.

A few more guesses and I'll give a hint

Jaffa

Metrovarium

Freko

They have Trust/Trusting in the lyrics!

5:16.  Sound familiar?
I'm not sure how I didn't notice that.

No worries.  =D  I actually didn't catch it myself until someone pointed it out to me, so.

Nope.

Hint: owning the making of Systematic Chaos and Live in Tokyo will help

fibreoptix

Puppies on Acid... Kittens on Crack.. Fisheye!

They all reference animals in their working titles.

Zook

Clever girl.

If that's not the right answer, he should win anyway.

My hint was too good! Correct!

fibreoptix

Alright, popping up town for an hour or two... I'll have a think and post one later today. :)

John94

Make it one that I can get! I have already though of a couple I can ask, which I hope aren't too easy!

fibreoptix

OK, let's see how this one goes.

Peruvian Skies
Surrounded
Octavarium

namgalsipsclar

Introductions all start with just one instrument

Well this is a little vague, but all three songs have distinctively different sounding sections

BlobVanDam

If it was just the first two, I'd say they've both been played live with sections of another band's song stuck in, but I don't think they've ever done that for Octavarium.

The only other thing I can think of is that they all have a female character in them. :lol

Unless you count Jingle Bells.   ;)

Mbarak

Not really in common, but each song was recorded by one of DT keyboardists.

Each song was played live in at least one tour with an extended intro played by Jordan Rudess  on one of his side instruments (Lap Steel Guitar for PS in 2005/2006, Continuum for Octa in the same years  and Memotron - was it called that way? - for Surrounded in 2007).

John94

They all incorporate Pink Floyd references or have done in live performances?

Well, shit. What do I do? I was gonna drop a hint later on highlighting Octavarium as somewhat of a red herring, but you've both somehow gotten the answer right between you. :lol

BlobVanDam

I'm fine with a fight to the death. I either win, or I die with honour, so it's really a win-win.

Mh, the three of them are somehow inspired by or dedicated to other people?

So who wants it? Everything's up for grabs!

Fiery Winds

I'll post one that shouldn't take too long and is bending the rules at only two songs.

Solitary Shell
Octavarium

Mh, the "characters" are lost inside some metaphorical oppressive reality? ("lost within himself in a solitary shell" and "trapped inside this Octavarium")

Elite

Both feature single-voiced keyboard solos.
