Again, nobody ever said it was.
I don't know where you've been, but a lot have been speculating that it was. :lol  I pretty sure that's what he meant

bosk1

No, I mean nobody associated with the band.  Some random fan on the Internet randomly speculating that something might be true means nothing.  I think I might have seen a post where someone said that on release day, DT was going to stetch actual tightropes across the sky and hire clowns to ride across them on unicycles.  Should I act shocked and disappointed when that doesn't happen?  I don't think so.

That would be pretty interesting, though.

Well, true, but quite a chunk of fans had speculated that it would be an instrumental.  Just like the lyricist for OtBoA - most of us speculated that JLB wrote it, and were therefore a bit surprised when JR said that JP wrote it.  What's wrong with that?

That's the point actually...the fans assumed JLB wrote OTBOA, and they were wrong. The fans assumed TST/BITS is an instrumental, they were wrong. The underline is - if it's just speculation, take it with a grain of salt.

Actually, don't take it. At all. Just wait for official info ^^

No, I understand that.  I just don't see what's wrong with commenting on the fan speculation being proven wrong.

Like, for instance, how we're all going to laugh at Aniland if track 5 isn't the most lauded song on the album.  :)

ronnibran

It's probably already been posted somewhere else a dozen times by now, but James just twittered that JP wrote the lyrics for the "bridges in the sky" or whatever the name is.

edit: ha ha, I see that someone already did post it.  I only assumed no one did because I didn't see a million posts about it.

That would be the best live show ever.

This week!  And because I asked Roadrunner when they would release them and they replied with this:
I think it's worth a small news post later in the week!

I wonder when the previews will be released  :P
If they will be released... They have been released with BC&SL though...I don't remember how fast before release anyway...

tri.ad

You guys do realise that it's still seven weeks until the release, right? My guess is that it will be still two or three weeks until we get the previews for the songs, most likely when the promo copies are distributed.

The press have it now, by the looks of things

Interesting, RR is not afraid of leaking some material?

tri.ad

I think that the big magazines, like Metal Hammer, have a certain trust policy regarding that; it's the "small" journalists who are likely to leak new albums imo.

Yeah it won't leak from a big magazine. It's when amateur journos get a hold of it that leaks happen.

Aside from the bigger journalist apparently having it, I still tend to agree with you.  At this point, RR wants to let the hype machine incubate for the upcoming warm gooey explosion of people telling you you need the album.

I love that! Nothing too long, but still a few longer tunes! It has sort of an SFAM feel with the track lengths.

nikatapi

It's a nice change that the last song is short compared to most closing songs on previous albums.
Nice mix of longer and shorter songs.

The Silent Cody

Wow, I can't remember when DT album was closing with shorter track.

The Curious Orange

Nothing over 15 minutes, 4 tracks over 10 minutes - should be interesting!

Mladen

Wow. If I had tried to predict the lengths, I would have been wrong for most of these. Who would tell they'd close the album with such a short song? It's also an interesting change that the longest song is actually twelve and a half minutes. Very nice info.

Also, Far from heaven is 3:56? If this isn't an intro to Breaking all illusions a la Wait for sleep, and if it isn't an instrumental, we have a perfect track for Dream Theater to perform on Conan.   ;D

tri.ad

Somehow, I'm quite glad that there's no 20-minute song on this album. The track lenghts remind me a lot of FII and a bit of the first disc of SDOIT, which makes me quite happy.
