Trust this forum to focus on what he said about MP, not on what he said about the quality of the album and Beneath the Surface.  :lol
Says it all really. :lol

Not really. Lifting Shadows is a great book. But Rich's DT rankings are pretty fail, as far as I remember them (i.e., LiTS and ToT aren't included in FII's 'good' songs, the TA debut is better than BaF, etc).

Heh, yeah, I definitely remember some of his opinions being of the WTF variety. :lol

Where is The Shaman's Trance? It's track listing from play.com.
Holy carp, you're right!

I've never heard of a holy carp before.  I think you may be thinking of this:

Haha good one Bosky ;) Anyway, I still think that is some mistake from play.com... It would be so weird for DT to change name of the one track before the release... And the tracklist has been announced few weeks earlier...

jonny108

How on earth can someone make the mistake "Bridges in the Sky" from "The Shamans Trance"  :lol

darkshade

I bet it's still an instrumental, as both titles are so different.

I hope the CD/DVD package has some studio footage. If it's the TSCO documentary, I'll just get the single CD, I don't really care to watch the documentary

Super Dude

Well it could not be an instrumental, and instead of the song title they mistakenly posted a line from the song. I've seen that happen before, although I guess never for a yet-unreleased song.
:superdude:

ResultsMayVary

I'd like to see what JP or JLB would say about the sudden track name change (or if it is a mistake on play.com's part).

Ben_Jamin

I was listening to Wither and it got me thinking if we'll see a similar song or better on ADToE.

we should do a poll of which we like better.

shaman's trance isnt bad, its just the worst one on there and is pretty goofy. bridges in the sky fits better, but i doubt RR would mistake it/DT change it after announcement

@RichWilson33 And for those who asked, the new DT album is awesome (and I'm not just saying that!). Trust me when I say it's worth the wait.

Lucky bastard. As if I'm not curious enough.

fadetoblackdude7

If play.com is the only site to list "Bridges in the Sky" as a song title, I bet it was just an idiotic mistake on their part. Websites do that every now and then.

A couple foreign language websites, also announced a change from The Shaman's Trance to Bridges in the Sky, dating about 2 days ago.

How did they "announce" it exactly?

Lumiukko

Now that I'm thinking about it "The Shaman Trance'' seems like a work title. They used to put on some temporary title as seen on previous documentaries.

Not necessarily.  If a distributor gave the wrong name to a few sellers, or the seller is the only one who has so far put out the name, it's likely just other sites perpetuating the faulty info.  As has been said earlier in the thread, it is very common to have wrong info posted this early.  Doesn't necessarily mean the song name has changed.

Truth.

Jirpo

I like both names actually, but Bridges in the Sky sounds a little nicer to me. Reminds me of Stairway to Heaven  :heart

I don't mind the name change at all. Not that I disliked The Shaman's Trance as a song name in the first place...

Hoping the name change is legit, as Bridges in the Sky is a significantly cooler name than The Shaman's Trance was.

I can't imagine where Play.com would've got the information from. They wouldn't make it up, and it certainly wouldn't've come from any lyrics - when companies put up tracklistings, they don't listen to the CD and guess, they either get it from the source or a physical copy. My guess is that the band had a change of heart before printing, and so the physical copy no longer matches the press release.

It happens. I remember a few years back the Radio Times - the biggest TV listings magazine in the UK - were making a big kerfuffle over the fact that they had the exclusive rights to reveal the titles of the new series of Doctor Who.

Everyone bought the magazine, and pored over the titles, along with information about the writers, summaries of the episodes, etc. etc.:

1. Partners in Crime
2. The Fires of Pompeii
3. Planet of the Ood
4. The Sontaran Stratagem
5. The Poison Sky
6. The Doctor's Daughter
7. The Unicorn and the Wasp
8. Silence in the Library
9. River's Run
10. Midnight
11. Turn Left
12. TBC
13. Journey's End

...but then, within about two days of having been released all up and down the UK, circulating through over a million households - River's Run had changed its name to Forest of the Dead. The biggest drama in the UK just went "Yeah, about that? Turns out, no." Contrary to every press release and sliver of information that had hence been released. It happens! Post-publication, someone goes "actually, how about this?" and rather than leave it be for the sake of some announcement, they go "you know what? that's better, and there's still time," and so they swap things around. And you can kinda see why they'd change The Shaman's Trance. Bit of an odd name, certainly.

There's precedent. It'd make sense, and I'm not sure where Play.com would've got Bridges in the Sky from were there not a grain of truth. Even if they've maybe since gone back on it.

I can't wait for the album too. I also find it a bit funny and ironic that Mike will probably be put in Kevin's shoes since the album is released because every interview he gives will have the same questions: did you listen to it, what do you think?
Could inspire him to write a reverse Raise the Knife song, who knows :D

If the song title makes me wonder (if legit): what type of a song would fit both those names that are so different from each other?

A lot of people have speculated that it was an instrumental. This makes it even more plausible.

Fuzzboy

ugh, good riddance. Shaman's Trance sounded cheesy as fack
