mangini is such a cool dude
Does JP said that the 2nd leg will be in spring?Or my ears are misleading me ;)

No, I heard that too. I mean, he specifically talked about Italy, but my guess is that the whole second European leg will take place in spring. Which is fine with me, as long as they re-visit Austria or Munich. ;)

Well, this is quite interesting, actually. They usually record live album during the last leg of the tour, so there are some chances that we may be given the first official Live Release filmed in Europe since OIALT. That would be epic!

Dream Team

Another good move by JP (I assume he is the final decision-maker on most things) to tour the States right away and then go back to Europe later; seeing as how there was no proper tour here to support BC&SL. I was fortunate enought to catch one of the 3 one-off shows but most of the fans here missed out unless they went to the Maiden gig. So anyway I'm liking most of the decisions the band is making under the new regime.

TAC

That's a great short clip of JP & MM. Mangini seems like such a great guy. Really the perfect guy.

OK, speaking of touring, how's about some US dates!!!!! The album release is 9 weeks away. If they start touring in September, this is not a lot of lead time.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I have a strong feeling Haken will become the new progressive cult following.

The world needs more Haken love. I love the band and I had the chance to meet the guys. Great band, great guys. Can't wait to see them next saturday (along with Dream Theater and Anathema, whoo!)

Can't recommend Haken enough.  Their phenomenal album Aquarius was 2nd only to Spock's Beard's X on my top 10 of 2010 list.

Definitely check out this track if you've never heard the band before.

Not really much good music coming out these days, and everything on the radio is made by computer geeks. Hopefully ADTOE will be one of the best records in the next few years.
You're missing out on a ton of great new music.
Well, within the genres I really like (which is actually quite many), there's like 1-5 good albums coming out each year. Not a lot IMO. I find most metal extremely boring though, so I might miss out on good acts within those genres. Most of the music that comes out these days just sound very familiar. There's not really been any significant development for the better or worse since the 90's, and therefore the new stuff just don't sound exciting. IMO of course. Bottom line, things have to be very, very good within its genre these days to be worth buying.

Are you kidding?! :lol

No, dead serious. Name me one band that originated in this godawful millenium that will be remembered in 20 years like the bands of the 60s and 70s are.

Not to hijack the thread too much, but I pretty much agree with you. The past 3-4 years in music have been pretty dull for me, although 2000-2004 was very good. I have to dig really hard to find anything that interests me. It doesn't help that indie has become so big and I don't like almost any of it.

You guys seriously need to look into more genres than just prog and prog metal. There's so much out there that's amazing. You just need to spend some time looking for it, and you certainly won't help yourselves by looking to the radio for it.

Ben_Jamin

Ravenheart is right. Expanding your genre styles makes life simpler cause you don't have a limitation.

From around 2005 to present, I've discovered so many great bands and artists from all kinds of music. Personally, I think this year, so far, is one of the best years in music that I've been alive (since I'm only 19 years old).

Let me just add that some of the albums I think are good these days, are absolutely top notch. I also do have a wide variety of genres that I like, for instance my two favorite bands in no particular order are Dream Theater and Earth, Wind & Fire.

I was just about to reply to a recent post when I suddenly realized this was actually the thread about the new Dream Theater album. Starts to look like a general music discussion.

Lets not go too far off topic, shall we?  ;D

Although they are very most likely fake, there are some track lengths and lyricists on these and it's quite interesting.

It'd be funny if it's someone like JR or JP editing the track times and lyricists and people keep deleting them.

I just read a post in another topic, saying how if this new album is 70-75 minutes long like most of their albums are, that if every song was about the same length, they would be 8 minutes or so in length. It also said that if there was a 25-minute epic at the end, some songs would be much shorter, at 4-5 minutes like in Octavarium. Personally, if there was an epic, (hoping there is!) I'd want something more of the length of TMOLS or ITPOE pt. 2, so the "shorter" songs would still be a good length, 6-8 minutes or so, as I haven't been a fan of their shortest songs lately -- I don't want to say they feel weak neccessarily, but for me they lack the strength of many DT songs. Of course, I don't count WFS, Regression, TMW, or Vacant because they tie into the next song, and WIMH because it's part of SDOIT.

I agree. The track lenghts of the wikipedia page I posted that is deleted now said Breaking All Illusions was about 11 minutes long and Beneath the Surface was about 14 minutes. Even if that was fake it would be pretty nice if it turned out to be something like that
