Are you guys kidding about these sounding great? All I can hear is the drums distorting the speakers, wind, and Italians singing.  (:metal)
Obviously, it's safe to assume the performances are great, but I can't listen to these videos. Can't wait to hear a clearer video, and hopefully one that's closer to the stage!

xD Its all we have.
The Learning to Live vid wasn't bad compared to the others. Anyways, isn't a live album supposed to come out for the upcoming tour or something?

It's just not good enough for me, and I've listened to bad DT before.  I'll wait until I hear something that isn't so mushy to me.  I could hear a little bit on the LtL acoustic section. That didn't sound so bad.  As far as the live dvd for this tour, I would have to assume that is a slam dunk.  They didn't do one for the last album, the dvd before that was basically thrown together production wise.  Score was the last good dvd they made, and that was 06.  This seems like the perfect time for a Budokan/Score type dvd/blu-ray. September can't come fast enough!

Hmm.. Labrie is my favorite singer i love his voice in these vids it's a bit rough. Just the first gig probably. CAuse i saw them last summer and he was very good.

FATAL TRAGEDY What the hell is JR doing to his keyboard?!?!?!?!?!? NEW STAND!!!!  That video sounded better than the rest.

bss4life15

I don't know how long JR had the tilting keyboard setup, but i love it

Wow Mangini's kit is cool! I love Pearl drums too. I also like that the band seems to groove more with Mangini and he doesn't showboat like Portnoy did. I can't wait to see more close ups of Mangini playing other songs.

Do different drum companies sound noticeably different from each other?  I know if I heard two guitar tones, I would be able to tell the dif. between a Strat and Les Paul, but it would be totally guessing for me to try tell drums apart.

Slain

It's almost embarrassing how excited this makes me. I cannot wait to see them when they come down to the states.

wammabe

I'm money-less and in Puerto Rico so there's no way I'm going to be able to travel anywhere to see them :-[ DT came here twice but I didn't know DT by then.  :censored

rush-signals

I'm sure they do based on material, thickness, coating, etc just like a guitar. But realistically nowadays anything can sound like anything with the technology out there. For example, remember Tom Sawyer, everyone thought it was Ged's Rickenbacker, but it was a Fender Jazz if I remember correctly. Also look at the sounds Lifeson has gotten using one guitar and it sounding like another.

I really couldn't help but smile during that. I definitely want to see them when they come around.

Did anyone catch that they played "Dream is Collapsing" by Hans Zimmer (from Inception) before the song started? Wouldn't have happened with Portnoy, he disliked the movie  :P

snapple

JP's guitar looks smaller than his arms. I mean, by a long shot. He looks like a giant playing a guitar.

Under A Glass Moon

No weird circus break after the first chorus.

I could get used to this incarnation of DT.
I can never understand why people don't like that stuff, i always enjoyed those added things when they played live.

I find those sorts of things cheesy, and they take away from the flow of the song. Maybe I take my music too seriously, but I don't care for random, ridiculous things like that.

I'm liking this Mangini drum solo so far.  Wish it was better quality sound-wise.  Like Reap said, I hope a bootlegger's getting a good mix ready.

Heretic

Wow, that's a fantastic set list. Really glad to see them play These Walls.

Can't wait to hear the live version of OTBOA!

In the FT video toward the end, JR is able to angle is keyboard to the sides...is that new? I don't think I've seen that before. Really cool thing to do!

That tilting keyboard is kinda trippy. Definately cool!

I agree, definately has to be new.

I was really surprised with the video screen and overall production. Was this a festival or a normal show?

theliloutkast

:hefdaddy They played seven of my top ten Dream Theater songs. Long live Dream Theater :)

IdoSC

I'm worried a little about James. In the recording, he sounds good at times, and at times it sounds like he struggles...

I do have to admit, there was a few spots where I was like  :(  But for the most part I was extremely impressed throughout and the positives are far more present than the negatives

Bolsters

Fucking love this setlist. Holy shit. And not a single MP-penned song :lol

4:25 - 4:35:  WAT.

Yeah that section is absolutely bananas...

Those crossovers... never hitting his sticks together seems like a semi-miracle, haha.  Dude's intense.

Also, playing the YTSE Jam... amazing choice!

KevShmev

Looks like a pretty darn good set list.  Seeing a song from every album is very nice.  Seeing Ytse Jam is awesome, and you can never go wrong classics like Learning to Live, Peruvian Skies, Fatal Tragedy and Caught in a Web.  I can do without Forsaken, but they like it for whatever reason, and if they had to play something from SC, better that than Constant Motion.  These Walls isn't to my liking either, but almost everything else is stellar, so this gets :tup :tup from me.

And see, writing a good DT set list isn't that hard! ;)
