I think it would be awkward for them to play such a personal song for MP on MM's first gig -_-

im sick of that crap, the only song that can be close to 'too personal' is TBOT. the rest are Dream Theater songs. fair game
In fairness, ACoS is about his mother dying, but I do agree with the point. ACoS has 15 years of age behind it, and was the band's song for a good six years before the death of Mike's mother entered the lyrics. The twelve-step-suite, too, is all theirs now.

But it is interesting that his songs haven't appeared yet.

also alot of people are tweeting about the 12-step suite being played live. haha

Indeed, and the lyrics to ACOS, while point to MP's personal experiences, are ambiguous enough to fit any number of other ideas, unlike TBOT which has specifics that pertain only to MP.

Also, playing "Caught In A Web" and "Fatal Tragedy" breaks the JP-lyrics run that conquered the set.

And also, LTL!!! Too bad it didn't come with WFS...

Yes! Absolutely fantastic.

Incidentally, with regards to the disappointment of some surrounding TCoT - note that there wasn't a DVD recorded of the last tour, and it's more than likely a song that they're going to want to have documented, so it was a little inevitable it'd be a candidate for this tour's master setlist.

And wrt no MP songs, no songs from any departed lyricists, actually. PMU, for instance, I'd've thought would've been plausible. Glad they haven't brought it up, though. Nor Metropolis.

That's seriously a fucking amazing setlist.  These Walls, Endless, Tragedy, Debate, Skies, Web, LTL, couldn't ask for any more.

Dellers

Damn, they played Fatal Tragedy? That song alone is worth it.

Yeah, I don't think they'd be likely to open a medley with Learning to Live. Close it, sure. But not open it.

(Using the IAW 15th Anniversary version on my home-playlist, so it'll be a fairly contemporary live version. We could do with LTL on DVD again, too, at that!)

MirzekDT

Change Endless Sacrifice for Stream Of Consciousness or Honor Thy Father and it's one of the possibilities of the best setlists ever

tjanuranus

if i don't hear Metropolis part 1 on this US tour i'm going to cry forever. Not a chopped up or medley version. THe REAL THING. CMON!

Jaffa

This setlist has four songs I consider to be top ten DT songs for me.

I think I'm pleased.

Also, apparently, JLB 'nailed' the F#.

TJPNET

That's a damn good setlist. I have some hope that I will see TCOT live now.
