Hollow Years is one of the best songs from Falling Into Infinity. Honestly, only Trail of Tears is better from that album imo

FAIL
If you say so.  But no fucking way.
this. That other ballad(I dont want to spoil my top 50) from FII is better than HY
FII only has two ballads, so it isn't that hard to figure out.

That's three.

For some reason, I never really considered Take Away My Pain as a ballad. I feel really dumb now.  :|

BRGM

But Anna Lee SUX! imo :D Take away my pain is awesome though! and HY since Budokan is a very good song!

But Putting Sacrificed sons this low.. :O   I do not a gree

hefdaddy42

Anna Lee is by far the best of the three ballady songs from FII.

#216
45.- The Shattered Fortress
The last chapter from the 12-step Suite, it's also one of the worsts from the suite(But a great one at the same time).
The first 4 or so minutes will keep you  :metal then comes the TROAE reprise and then the never ending solo from rudess, the solo gets anoying and boring quickly, Petrucci saves the day with and awesome solo, and the "Responsible" is great.
To much reprising for my taste.

44.- Caught In A Web
Nice "Moore" driven song, the surreal keyboards are great for the song, the 7-string(?) guitar works really well here, you can actually hear Myung too, Labrie is great. Fast, short, and heavy amazing song. And:
MORE COWBELL.

43.- The Best Of Times
"Omg soooooo looooww"
YES this song is just painfull to hear, it's to personal.
I find this song kind of stale but I like the intro, the lyrics are, well, about a boy and his dad what else could you say about the song? Oh yes Petrucci solo is amazing.

42.- Innocence Faded
A nice funny(musically) song, The lyrics are ok. Nice band work from everyone, in this one LaBrie shines again(like most of Awake).
The bass lines are great, the drum parts are kinda laid back and so are the keyboards but still fit the song, The Intro/Outro solos are fucking amazing.
EDIT: I forgot about: "WEARING APATHETIC DISPLAYS! SHARING FLESH LIKE ENVY IN CAGES! CONDESCENDING! NOT INTENDED TO EEEEEEND!"(F#?) amazing part gives me chills everytime.

41.- Endless Sacrifice
One of those song that DT fans either love or hate.
I like the opening section, kind of a ballad, then it gradually builds up with more and more distortion and then BAM! fucking amazing chorus the riffs  are really heavy and awesome, then calm again, then bam! Nice instrumental, with great drumming and guitar work and then comes the keyboard... Holy shit the circus noices suck so bad if it wasn't by that this song would be much much higher.
The dirty riff from 8:20 it's great and from there on the song is just amazing.

Seventh Son

You mention Innocence Faded without the "WEARING APATHETIC DISPLAYS! SHARING FLESH LIKE ENVY IN CAGES! CONDESCENDING! NOT INTENDED TO EEEEEEND!" part? For shame.

Perfect.

Only remember the intro to Innocence faded...and yeah, it's pretty cool. Don't remember the rest of the song though! :D Think I'm gonna listen to it right now :D

AwakeFromOctavarium

Innocence Faded lower than Endless Sacrifice? Come on.

Honestly, every song from Awake will be higher than ToT in my list. Except for maybe, Space-Dye-Vest.

I said "i mad" because you made an exception for Space-Dye Vest. I love Awake too, and ToT is meh outside of three songs (This Dying Soul, Stream of Conciousness, and In the Name of God). But I fucking love SDV to death, which is why I said that.

Good seeing "Sacrificed Sons" make the top fifty. That song is underrated from what I've observed.

toro

40.- The Great Debate
More political lyrics? yes and this ones are good, i like the way, the lyrics/vocals are divided on left and right.
I like the intro, a lot of people say that the intro is long, I disagree the intro is great and sets the mood for the rest of the song. Once again another awesome band performance(like all of 6DOIT). The part i really like from this song is around 8:42 bulids up for like 8 seconds but those 8 seconds are amazing.  :metal

39.- Another Won
This one made it to the top 50 just because of the "Score" version.
Myung KILLS on this song, the bass/drums work is great and unique, Laid back guitars, awesome vocals, but again... WTF are the lyrics about?
Pure Maiden influence on this one.

38.- Overture 1928/Strange Deja Vu
The first 2 songs I heard from DT, at the time they seemed really new, somenthing different to what I was used to, and still are, I like all of the overture, and the SDV chorus is great.

37.- Ytse Jam
DT's YYZ, A lot of rush influence here. And here Myung shines again, almost like a 2nd guitar. Kevin moore's keyboard solo here is really underrated really, way better than any solo from rudess on BC&SL(yes I went there). Nice drum work and nice solos from everyone overall.
Pure DT wankery? Yes and a damn good wankery.

36.- Another Hand / The Killing Hand Lyrics
I like both versions, the WDADU and the live versions, the first DT epic/suite(?).
On this song i actually like Dominici vocals(his solo work is great), I like the intro, the bass lines, and, of course: "I AM THE KILLING HAAAAAAAAAAAAND".
Oh and the lyrics are great.

And for the Awake>TOT just wait and see.

Seventh Son

The Killing Hand is still one of DT's best songs ever imo
But glad to see it on the list. And TGB is a pretty underrated song, although I wouldn't have it in the 40's.

BRGM

The Great Debate is awesome, at first I just thought it was wierd and nothing special, now I get chills everytime during that Guiar/Bass unison :D

PlaysLikeMyung

Another Hand technically isn't part of The Killing Hand, but whatever

I approve of these choices

LCArenas

Another Hand is Awesome. The original intro is good, but Another Hand is an incredibly good instrumental opener :tup

Not allowed?  Nah, it is your list; you can do it however you want.  Hell, if I did a DT top 50, I would probably do "A Mind Beside Itself" as one song, regardless of whether or not people consider it one song or not.
