Just watched it on the Metropolis 2000 DVD...it's pretty good...not a top 2 for em though :)

Well, Finally Free hasn't gone yet either. So its one of those two songs. Although I like Metropolis more than Finally Free, so I would hope that its Metropolis.

Finally Free is at number 15

It's Metropolis.

1. Metropolis, Part 1: The Miracle And The Sleeper - Images And Words
It's my favourite song of all time. And it's magical.

Looks like anticlimactic finals are cool these days.

So, who's up next?

MOD EDIT:

So that we don't end up with loads of Top 50 threads, this is now the official one. Pirate will finish his off, and once he does, other people can take turns. The list will be as follows:
- Pirate
- toro

Who is toro?

I wouldn't mind a crack at it. I'm bored, unemployed, have nothing to do :rollin
I have a list saved up on notepad, but its top 90 (Including 6 unreleased songs), not 50, but I could just focus on the top 50 to fit in with the topic title.

Silver Tears

Good list Pirate, though I didn't agree with all of it  :P

I can do one if anyone would be interested.

Goes without saying if I did the list it would have more old stuff than new stuff. I think some of the choices might be surprising, though!

Seventh Son

Top 15 song for me, but I don't quite think its #1 material.

Ok guys, i'm up next, so here it goes.

50.- Pull Me Under
Dream Theater's greatest hit, well it doesn't hit me that much but it's a great song, heavy, proggy, radio friendly etc.
What i really like about the song is the drumming, what I really dislike is that you can't hear Myung(Something that we all know, has gotten more and more obvious).
I know a lot of younger people who love this song and thats a good thing. This is the perfect song to get into DT.

49.- I Walk Beside You
"hurr durr u2 rip-off durr derp" So what? I like U2 and I like DT.
Uplifting, Catchy and fun to listen to, kind of cheesy but still a nice song, WAY WAAAAAAAAY better than TALW imo.

48.- Sacrificed Sons
I like the intro, the continuum work, the lyrics aren't that bad although im not a big fan of political lyrics, this ones are quite good. I specially like it because of the instrumental section, the dirty bass intro to the instrumental is amazing, Petrucci's riff are  :metal, Portnoy's drum solo to the ends it's great too.
For now on, there are only 2 more songs from Octavarium.

47.- Hollow Years
Another DT ballad-single to made it to my top 50. I love the Acoustic work, the lyrics again are kinda cheesy but they go with the mood of the song, the solo is great, the vocal delivery is great too.
Overall a nice warm song to listen.

46.-Under A Glass Moon
Nice rockin song from I&W, great bass lines and great drumming, LaBrie is on fire in this one, and this song has one of Petrucci's greatest solos, but...
WHAT THE FUCK ARE THE LYRICS ABOUT!? srsly.

Seventh Son

I can understand why Pull Me Under would go so quickly, but Hollow Years being out of the top 20 is a sham :(

Pirate

Can a mod change the thread title please?

No way.  It most likely wouldn't even make my Top 50.

Hollow years wouldn't make my top 50 neither.

Good list so far, Toro. Nice to see I walk beside you, it's a nice song all around. I'd put PMU and UAGM much higher, though.

That's how my list would be too :P

Hollow Years is one of the best songs from Falling Into Infinity. Honestly, only Trail of Tears is better from that album imo

Falling Into Infinity is awesome, especially Trial of Tears, Peruvian Skies, Anna Lee, Lines in the Sand, etc. But I just fucking love HY to death.
