No, if it were 9-10 minutes long, I wouldn't be stoked for it. Stream of Consciousness is easily the worst instrumental they've done, simply because it's too long and drags
agree with you on SOC..
i just have a feeling. by reading the review it looks like raw dog has lot of variation.
thats why i hope for a long song. it doesnt have to be 12-15 minutes
This made me think, for some reason, of how funny it would be for LTE's 'Three Minute Warning' to be released on Rock Band or Guitar Hero, where you would have to improvise it differently every time you played the track.

Surely one of the funnier posts I've seen in a while. Expect some Colorado steaks in the mail in 4-6 weeks.
Why would I want to wait 4-6 weeks for Colorado steaks when I can enjoy some Raw Dog next week?  OHHH... and I'm still on topic!!!

I actually found it funny. Your reply sounds like you took it as an insult.
nah, not insulted - I was just making another joke.  Perhaps I should have stopped while I was ahead.

sounds like it was rushed but I think they are just fast writers in general. Hopefully it'll turn out as good as the other instrumentals.

Hmm, I feel kinda meh. I hope that this is a heavy middle part, or at least just a short bit in the song.
Again it is the guitar riff doubled by the bass guitar, and doubled by the keys. Instead of a vocal line there is now a keyboard line that follows the top half of the guitar.
I'd love to hear some more polyfonics from them.

yeah I hope it's not some main theme. It's just generic as all hell. The odd times are just cheesy and predictable too.

Nice. I read the full version linked at the bottom of the page. (https://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=359656)
Sounds pretty neat. I never realized the LTE albums were done so quickly :|

He also mentions that they intended to have some cool Kratos samples (Kratos = the main character from God Of War) at the end of the song, but they had to strip them due to copyright issues.  I gotta say, that intrigued me A LOT.

Yes, thank god they removed those video game sounds. Despite the fact we haven't heard the song or the samples they intended to use and with DT's long history of putting samples to good use, it clearly must have been terrible.

EXACTLY!

But really, I'm glad the song can exist completely outside the context of the game.

Well when you put it that way, I see what you mean. I suppose it will make it feel like more of a DT instrumental rather than something they wrote for another purpose.
I would have liked it to have been in the actual game too though. I don't know how many people outside of us will give much of a thought to a song that exists only on a soundtrack.

That's true. I think an instrumental metal song would work great in a game like God of War, but I'm sure it's orchestrally scored throughout. You're probably right about people not really caring about it, but hey at least we're getting a new song :)

I imagine that's what the majority of us assumed when we heard DT was producing a track for GoW III. That's what I assumed, for sure. I too, am a bit disappointed at that.

thank god they removed the video game sounds

Fail

It's for a video game companion CD. It's cool that DT found a way to blend what they wrote in with the game in a way that fit the song, and then it was just stripped out. Also, considering that the samples were part of how DT chose to mold the overall flow of the song, it would seem as though something will seem lost from the overall product.

I don't know how or in what way the samples were used, so I can't really say. However, as I said before, I'm glad the song can now exist completely on its own.

Yes, I realize this sounds a little silly having no idea what actually got removed, but for whatever reason I had in my mind that it would have sounded dumb.

I love how people are debating whether a part of DT music we never heard and probably never will hear was good or not already.

It will be nothing but wankery! I miss the old DT, when they really knew how to write an instrumental based around a title that's just something spelled backwards!*

Am I doing it right?

*Comment for satirical purposes only. I'm actually really looking forward to Raw Dog.

I trust the DT guys' judgment.  If they removed it, it was for good reason.

If you were 90% of the posters on this board, I'd insult you because this post is so baffling.

They were forced to remove it for legal reasons. There was no artistry involved in the decision.

Seriously.  The song already has the worst name of any DT song ever.  I doubt the label care very much about whether it's good or not.

As far as the excerpt goes, this music sounds VERY appropriate for the game, which I'm sure is what DT was going for. The game isn't very thought provoking, it's just about being a badass and ripping things to shreds. Honestly if this track is mediocre, it's only due to the subject matter of the game itself and the fact that DT honestly doesn't seem to care too much about it. To automatically condemn DT's future work because of it is just asinine, especially after some great sounds coming from BC&SL.

I guess the blame lies on me anyway, as I didn't even read the article or video or w/e that mentioned why they removed it. :lol
