I've been a fan since The Black Halo was released.

I was lucky enough to see Kamelot during the Black Halo Tour in 2006 in New York City. It was perhaps the best and most fantastic show I've ever seen. Roy Khan put on an absolutely fantastic performance, and it was really a perfect show with Epica opening and Simone Simmons guest appearing on "The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)." A magical night in NYC.

I fell mostly out of touch with the metal scene from 2007 to 2011 due to school. It seems I didn't miss much from Kamelot aside from a few good songs from Ghost Opera. Poetry for the Poison could barely maintain my interest. Sad about Roy Khan leaving. He's my favorite singer and best I've ever seen live (and I've seen quite a few great vocalists live).

I'm very interested in the new album "Silverthorn" with new vocalist Tommy Kaverik. I've listened to him with Kamelot and his band Seventh Wonder, and he's a great singer. I think he has the potential to revitalize Kamelot's sound. But I'll miss Roy Khan, of course! Let's face it, he was the heart and soul of Kamelot's music... (Thomas Youngblood is the brain

Roy's vocals were what really drew me in to Kamelot. If you need a fix of Roy's vocals from early in his career you could also check out the Finnish prog/metal band Conception

Hmm, yeah, you might be right about where they're from. Their first album is kinda "meh" but the rest are really good. Definitely worth getting.

The US symphonic metal band KAMELOT will be releasing their new album Silverthorn October 30th in North America, October 26th in Germany and October 29th in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. It will receive its Japanese release October 24th via King Records.

Today the band has unveiled the breathtaking album artwork for Silverthorn. The LP and limited edition will have one version of the art, while the standard version of Silverthorn will have a different but equally exquisite version of the artwork. The standard version is presented as an Ecolbook. The limited edition contains the Ecolbook, a bonus CD with nearly 60 minutes of music, a 44 page book and an exclusive poster. The double LP version is a gatefold on colored vinyl and includes the CD.

Guitarist Thomas Youngblood says of the artwork: "Artist Stefan Heilemann captured the true essence of the story and the main character. The booklet and 44 page book is packed with amazing images!"

I am really, really hoping for a return to form with this one. "The Black Halo" is the last album Kamelot made that wowed me. I hope this one is better than "Ghost Opera" and "Poetry for the Poisoned"

October's looking to be a pretty kickass month for music - Ensiferum, Wintersun, and now Kamelot are all releasing albums during that time.

Also really excited to hear Karevik of course. He was already one of my favorite singers before he joined Kamelot.

I quite like Ghost Opera and Black Halo. The latter actually bored me at first listen but it eventually grew on me. Still haven't really listened to any of their other ones though. What do you guys recommend the most?

If you like "The Black Halo," you should get "Epica" because it's actually the first part of the story that is finished in "The Black Halo"

I think "The Fourth Legacy" and "Karma" are very good as well, the rest are a bit hit and miss.

Well considering they said they had 800? I think people audition for the vocalist spot, then I think the the bonus disk is pretty obvious...

My two suggestions are Black Halo and Karma, as they are my favorites.

If you love those, I'd then suggest Fourth Legacy and Ghost Opera.

Beyond that, Epica is not bad and Poetry for the Poisoned is alright.

Can't really recommend the first three records.

These are their best 4 recordings, imho. "Ghost Opera" began a period of decline and "Poetry for the Poisoned" is where they bottomed out. I also agree that their early recordings are pretty "meh"

I am very confused by that track listing with the 3 part song.

Also, making us buy an instrumental version of the album just to hear 1 actual bonus song is a really weak move.

Eh - better than the Ghost Opera bonuses! Don't know if there was a different edition going about, but mine just had a (very good!) extra track and the video for the title track. Quality might not be amazing, but the quantity's there. More than many special editions.
