If you got genuinely upset, sorry :-* I appreciate what you wrote, especially about Tommy. I've been rooting for him so bad and the fact he's not leaving SW just makes my heart warm.

You know what's great about Tommy? He naturally sounds like Khan.

You why Tommy is better than Stu Block? He naturally sounds like Khan.

Except Tommy doesn't sound like Khan. Seventh Wonder being the main proof. It's more like, when you put Tommy in front of Kamelot, it still sounds like Roy-Kamelot, except he doesn't have to try really hard to make it so.

Hence the naturally part.

And that's really what I was implying. His work in SW sounds absolutely nothing like Khan.

Ah yes, I just prefer putting it this way :)

Edit: It's not Stu's fault they make him sing like that, though.

So, listening to the new album and I hope you guys like it when bands try to replace singers with clones, because I found myself swearing at times Khan was on this album.

At least Tommy does it right, unlike a certain other singer that recently replaced a long time vocalist.

bbbbut I was looking forward to this because of Tommy's amazing vocals...not that Khan's isn't awesome.

is the album at least good?

Don't care at all. I would have loved a new album with Roy, so one with a clone is fine too. I don't care if their new singer sounds like Roy or not, as long as he sounds good. And based on seeing him live, he sounds great.

Only listened once, and Tommy certainly does do a great job, but it's a little early to judge the overall product. I will at least say I think it will be better than Poetry.

As will I. It wasn't brilliant by any means, but Poetry seems to be universally hated while Ghost Opera seems pretty praised, which I don't get. Ghost Opera has a few good songs (namely the title track and Rule The World) but almost every song on Poetry is at least good.

I don't hate Poetry, but find it rather bland and uninteresting save about 2-3 tracks.

Poetry actually grew on me quite a bit as it aged, but Ghost Opera is still pretty rubbish to me.

Completely agreed. Ghost Opera is really mediocre, while Poetry has more good songs.

I think the problem was that Poetry was a real grower, it took me ages to appreciate it.  I went from hating it to liking it a lot after many listens.  Ghost Opera just doesn't really open up to anything really.

Yeah.

As for the album, I only listened once, but it hasn't really clicked yet. Sure it all sounded nice, and Tommy's naturally sounding Khan impression was great for continuity, but the only song that is memorable so far is the single. It's nice to hear them go back to what their good at and not the Gothic boring shit though.

I'm much more enjoying Stone Sour's new album.

Very nice. Can't wait for it to arrive to my doorstep. It left me wanting for a bit more, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Tommy was holding back sliiiiiiightly, but that is still "fucking awesome" in every dictionary. Also, people who claim he sounds like Roy should make an experiment and play a Tommy song and a Roy song right after. There's a slight resemblance at the very lowest part of both their ranges and that's about it, completely different singers, the two of them.

I'd mostly agree with that (especially the last line) after one listen - only a few songs stuck with me once I'd finished. However I've been listening more and even songs I didn't think much of the first couple of times seem much better now - I think it will take a few listens to get to grips with every song.

Sacrimony is great, I really enjoy Ashes To Ashes and Song For Jolee, but after a couple of listens my favourite song is probably Veritas, which I don't think I've ever even seen mentioned in any reviews of the album. The lyrics stood out to me straight away and it's one of my favourite of Tommy's vocal deliveries, even though it's not really showing off and it's not much like anything from Seventh Wonder. And the female vocal part in the middle is one of my favourite parts of the album.

And one issue I don't think I've seen mentioned is the production. I feel likesometimes the album should sound more powerful but it feels quiet and thin, (see the intro to Torn, Sacrimony).  And at other times the opposite occurs (e.g. the chorus in Ashes To Ashes, which is otherwise one of my favourite parts, where the riff is really loud and it feels like the vocals should be higher in the mix). Maybe that's just me though.

Yes, that is definitely their high water mark.

Haven't heard the new one yet, but I know a few reviewers who have heard it and three out of five of them told me not to bother with it.  :mehlin

New video...

https://www.fuse.tv/videos/2012/10/watch-world-premiere-of-kamelot-s-sacrimony-angel-of-afterlife

I find this a decent song but it's pretty unoriginal by Kamelot standards and just sounds like it's trying to copy songs from Epica or The Black Halo.  I can't get over how much of a replica Tommy's vocal delivery, phrasing and melodies are to Khan.
