Leprous - Acquired Taste

Sorry to say it, but this is pretty much the most accurate title to describe the band a s a whole for me so far. Leprous are an Acquired Taste, one that I haven't acquired as yet.
The piano riff is actually really intriguing and I like Einar's voice. The kick-off into the full band section is really well done and it's all going nicely. But despite me liking everything that's going on, it just seems to fall flat when Einar starts singing again. The verse after this starts to turn me off completely. By removing the piano melody that was supporting it, the vocal melody just feels a littler bit all over the shop. What follows from there, the haunting melody is a nice touch, but it kinda kills the song dead in its tracks and has next to nothing to do with where we started from. I don't know if it's a fault of the live version or the songwriting itself, but I feel lost from here. I really wish they'd put some actual lyrics into the back half instead of letting him waffle around for 5 minutes just signing "ahh ahh", you know? He's got a melody, so why not utilise it! I kinda like all the parts, but I don't like the sum. It's weird.Don't stop trying to get me into Leprous though, because I almost got there this time.
