Well, after participating in ReaperKK’s roulette (which was an absolutely awesome time), I figure it’s time to see how I go on the other side of this. I’m looking forward to seeing how this one goes, but what are these roulettes for if not a bit of fun?
Anyhow, what are the rounds looking like? There will be 9 regular rounds to determine the top 5 players who will be sending me an album of their choice.
Rounds:- Round 1: Open
- Round 2: Optional Theme: Short Songs (2:30 and under)
- Round 3: Open
- Round 4: Optional Theme: Instrumental
- Round 5: Optional Theme: Alternate Versions
- Round 6: Optional Theme: Songs With A Story
- Round 7: Optional Theme: Covers
- Round 8: Optional Theme: Long Songs (9-25 Minutes long)
- Round 9: Open
- Round 10: Full Album
For the alternate versions round, this includes acoustic versions, collaborations and even live versions as long as they offer a notable difference.
For the Song With A Story round, it’s what it sounds like. I love songs with strong lyrics, so if you can give me a song that tells a story, this is the round for it. This doesn’t have to be as long as Rime of the Ancient Mariner, but it does have to be a comprehensible story!
What are the rules?
Banned Artists: Dream Theater, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Rush. I’m way too big of a fan of these bands to not be biased if they come up.
Bonus Themes: These work much the same as they did in Reaper’s roulette. If you play into the theme, you get an extra point on your score. Don’t play into it? No bonus.
Be Nice - I’m new. Try and be nice if I’m getting things wrong. If you can even just send me a PM with a quick pointer if it seems I need it, it will definitely be appreciated.
Reusing Artists - If anyone uses a song, that song is out of the game for any other player in another round. Every artist can only be used by a single player once (apart from ReaperKK, who can send one artist of his choice once due to me missing this in his roulette), but all players can send songs by that artist. This rule will be reset for the top 5 players in the Full Album round.
Submissions - Spotify preferred, YouTube’s also fine, let me know if you really need to use a different site.
