Out Of Reach or Far From Heaven?

Haha damn, meant Out of Reach actually. Far From Heaven however is like a beautiful follow up to one of the best LaBrie songs ever; Disappear. The lyrics perfectly touches on the emotional subjects, something I think LaBrie does so well. Vacant os the same.

I took Out of Reach and Viper King as examples since those are more light hearted subjects that still manages to have great lyrics content imo

LaBrie really have become the favorite lyricist for me. Even stuff like Viper King or Far From Reach has excellent writing to me. I can kind of see his Queen influence in a way. At Wits End ofc is another league but imagine LaBrie writing the epic!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's been confirmed that JP wrote the lyrics to the View epic.

It would be nice to see more JLB lyrics on the album though. I think The Alien was written by him, but I wonder if there'll be any more.

I'm pretty sure people found out that Awaken The Master was written by JM, by zooming into specific frames of the deluxe edition trailer. If any others were found this way I didn't see them mentioned, & I sure as hell couldn't make them out by trying myself.

Yes, Awaken The Master is JM. (which could be found out by freezing some frames). Similarly, Transcending Time is John as well (as IM is), which could be found out like that as well.

I listened to Dream Theater for almost 7 hours yesterday while at work and at no point did either of the new songs cross my mind

I only got a couple of hours in..I am choosing not to listen to these two anymore as the concert is a long way off...I went to my favorite for a mountain bike trek. Live in London - Scenes from a Memory. Dang, it is so good!!  Then, got about half way through The Astonishing (TA  ) before I had to stop. I will say, the 2 new songs will not be in my top 10 for sure.

I think after letting it sit some IM is a perfectly fine song. Some parts are pretty catchy. Overall solid. I'd bet that if I heard this on the album it would be just fine.

I think what's a bummer is that, given that the rest of the songs are supposed to be at least somewhat insane, releasing the mid-tempo song as a single is disappointing.

From the early reviews and thinking about D/T it actually seems like they keep the good stuff for the final release 😁 I think TA is cool and IM a simple but good song. However I am happy there will be awesome stuff left when the album finally hits. D/T did release Fall Into The Light as the last single and that one is damn good in my book. Paralyzed and UA was solid but just that.

Then when the album was released and I got Barstool Warrior, At Wits End and Pale Blue Dot and the rest in context it all made sense

Yeah I agree. IM has settled a lot more for me, and I can see it sitting well in the context of the album. I find myself comparing it to UA, just in terms of the type of song it is, and probably I like IM more than UA.

I'm very hopeful that the best stuff is still to come.

Agreed. I think part of what skewed things for this album though was that TA came out as the first single. Whatever you think of the song, it's pedal to the metal for nine minutes straight. For the second single to be lower energy is weird. With respect with Untethered Angel, it's a bit of a safe song to start out with.

I'm surprised you guys want a 3rd single. That would be 3 out of 7 songs heard before the release. Only 4 new songs.  Are peoole worn out on the first 2 songs already?!

I get them releasing something anyway and people listening because they can't wait (been there before ha, not this time though) but actually asking for more songs at this point to be revealed, I don't get.

If I had no self control, I would be praying that they didn't reveal any more songs before the full release

There was an interesting comment from Glasser a few pages back in one of the many threads, saying "I have confirmation there will not be a 3rd single"

Which if true, great! I also agree there should not be a3rd single even if that's Inside Out's way of doing things
