Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Hard to argue with MP...

I was in a Rush mood too, today...and all the talk about the song Double Agent on the Rush countdown thread made me revisit this:

Hughes/Thrall - Hughes/Thrall

I had this on cassette back in the day. Though I always get it confused with Whitford/St. Holmes.

Tesla - Bust a Nut

I love this album, and I feel like it's overlooked in their classic era.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

This would be my favorite 80s album if it were released three months earlier. :P

This is a pretty bold statement, but I think this might be the album with the most musical variety I'll ever hear in my life. There's one or two songs I skip on here, but considering there's 36 songs on this thing, that's not much of a complaint. Casey Crescenzo is a genius.

This is the only The Dear Hunter project I've been able to get into, but man, is it incredible. Like you said, not every song is great, but every one is memorable, which for a collection of 36 songs is all you can really ask for. And each style is executed really well.

Never got to it, it's a lot to take in but I might split it and finally listen to it.

I haven't listened to The Dear Hunter in a long time but I found them to be really underwhelming. I'll give the Color Spectrum a shot someday soon.

This is such a good one, and I don't see it mentioned super-often. Very cool and unique atmosphere.

Totally agree with this. I definitely do not love ever song but there is some incredible songwriting on this album. It is really well done and highly recommended from me.

Very cool. In my view, they were never quite able to capture the magic of the debut, although I do enjoy The Catalyst Fire and Aesthesis.

The spacey, delay-drenched guitars on the debut, and that bouncy bass though...so good...

Some new/new-ish stuff over the last couple of days

Windfaerer -  Breaths of Elder Dawns: a black metal album with beautiful melodies (and a great use of the violin - played by Ben Karas of Thank You Scientist)

Arđ - Take Up My Bones: Beautiful, doomy album. I guess it needs the right mood, as it's very, um, "mournful". Beautiful stuff, though.

Venator - Echoes from the Gutter: Pretty classic heavy metal - I hear Priest, Maiden, and maybe some W.A.S.P here and there. Lots of energy and overall fun listen.

Eight Bells - Legacy of Ruin: Interesting, "proggy" (in a 70s sense) doom (and more) record from Portland, OR. Not afraid of being heavy, at times.
