I don't see how that's an advantage. If I send my best songs now, no one can cock-block me and I still have the same amount of points in the end, when it counts. Plus, there's less chance of me being eliminated now.

It's ok though, I do hope I won't be that far behind for it to matter during the first elimination.

There's a very minimal advantage to hanging on to them - unless one is certain they can NAIL the top song with a future category/theme, but there's no guarantee of that.  Otherwise, not using them now risks never getting to use them.  How many survivor contestants got the boots with the immunity idol in their pocket?  How many Amazing Race contestants finished last with an express pass in their pocket?

But by all means... save them.

I watched the Canadian version - mrs.jingle made us.     And in the 3 Canadian versions, it's also happened once.  I figured at that ratio, it must've happened a few times in the US version.  Guess not.
