giant squid: this is surprisingly not that heavy, at least not as heavy as i remembered on full listen, but it is... good, yeah. honestly feels like some weird mixture of stoner/sludge metal and 70's prog, a lot of psychedelic elements here up to the closer just being a 20 minute jam. and all the songs hold their own pretty well, aside from the stupid interlude track that's only a minute long there's nothing here i'd cut. so yeah. it's not fantastic but i dig it.
intronaut: whoa, boy. i am actually surprised at how good this is, considering it tends to be regarded lower than their other albums. which is... a bit unfair? it's quite good. musically it's most comparable to their latest, though produced better imo, but it's also a bit heavier on the whole than any of their other albums though it has its quiet moments. i like it more than at least valley of smoke and maybe habitual levitations, and, yeah, it's a pretty great listen front to back
soen: okay, i give up. be as derivative as you want if you're gonna make tunes this enjoyable, i guess. really, most every track stands on its own pretty well on top of all of them being interesting and pretty great. they made a good album and i will commend them for that, certainly.
