IN TODAY'S EPISODE :

" Kotowboy drives to work ! "

Today was the first day driving my bike to work. It's not running perfectly but it's better and it gets me there. I had no other choice today as it's Sunday and there's no buses on Sunday's ( today ) or Bank Holidays ( tomorrow ).

At worst i can get the bus to work on Tuesday and Fridays and Bike it in on Sundays.

The visibility was shocking this morning though !!

Drizzle and fog. Could barely see out of my visor so was crawling along in my waterproof trousers and hi vis gore tex jacket

Good day at work though. because the cafe is also a live music venue in the evenings - after work - the boss and I jammed on two acoustics for a little while

First job ever I actually get my tips, too !

I am so fed up with my place of employment that I'd probably quit if I had another place to go.

It's going to a busy ass day here. There was a lot of shit that happened yesterday which I need to follow up on, but first I need to wake the hell up.
I was out late last night bowling. Last night was the final night that my bowling alley was going to be open... so naturally I was there.

Okay.

Residents of my favourite internet forum (and I frequent two others, so this is by no means a meaningless distinction), I am in need of advice.

My dad manages a choir, and he asked me to do some standing around and handing out flyers with a friend over the weekend. We'd hand out flyers on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening, in the city - that was the plan.

He asked me to e-Mail the times when we should be on location to the friend that was supposed to join me, and I did.

Then, yesterday, I turn up with the flyers, ready to divide them between the two of us, but he's nowhere to be seen. After being annoyed for a while, I'm also happy, because that means that I can keep the money to myself that we are getting paid - it's 25€ per giving-out-flyer-session.

So I come home after finishing, and I find an e-Mail from my friend saying that he was wondering when I was going to get around to sending him the times when we should do the flyer thing - turns out I had a typo in the mail that I sent him and he never got it.

Now, here's my question: what do about the money? I mean, I did do all the work alone, but it's not like he wouldn't have been there - it was my fault that he couldn't come because he had no idea of time and place.

I was thinking of offering him a 10€ - 15€ split for yesterday, do you guys think that that's fair? What would you suggest?

While it's true that it's your fault apparently, it seems a little odd to pay him very much for work he didn't actually do.

Yeah, that was my dilemma.

We ended up splitting it 18€ - 7€, which we're both okay with. I am now happy that I started negotations low.

I know right? I meant to at the same time I got the original, but at the time I couldn't find a copy, and then I forgot about it. I've got quite a watchlist on imdb of movies I want to see at this point.

It's been a long time since I've seen them myself. They never play them on TV anymore. I saw Die Hard for the gazzillion time last night. I couldn't help myself. I've always got to see the part when he's on the radio band and tells them, "What do you think I'm doing? Ordering a fucking pizza lady?!"

Yup. Sunday was an all day benefit show for Randy, a legend in the local musical community. The guy is known by EVERYBODY in the music scene around here, ran a guitar shop for many years, and has just been through surgery for bile duct cancer. While the docs thought it was all contained there and taken care of by the surgery, his lymph system has tested positive and he'll be undergoing chemo. So the benefit on Saturday had a 8 bands all donating their time, raffles, food, etc. all for the benefit of this guy we all love. It was a spectacular day, Randy showed up and stayed all day, despite being a little weak, the guy was a trooper and hung out and rocked with the rest of us. They raised $9,000+ on Sunday. Additionally, they're over $13,000 in donations on the GoFundMe account they set up for him, as well. So it was a great, albeit emotional, day.

Then yesterday, we hung around the pool, drank some more, and grilled. Perfect weather both days.

[rant]I understand that Memorial Day is a special vet-centric day and I appreciate that. What I don't appreciate is seeing borderline condescending memes on Facebook reminding me that it isn't National BBQ Day. I know what the day is for. I don't need anybody's self-important lectures as to the reason we celebrate Memorial Day. Sorry if I want to grill shit to celebrate the freedom that others fought for me to enjoy.[/rant]
