I have so far managed to avoid listening in any way, shape or form for 11 hours.   I was about to crack...but OP has re-invigorated me.

I'm not, however, abstaining from reading about it.   I've read almost everything people are saying about it.

I wasn't going to but decided, what the heck?  I say to all - it's great; it won't be better next month....give it a listen!

So you say. Sounds to me though that the production is a major issue, which has me not excited to listen until 9/24.

I also have not and will not listen to it. Nor have I read a single opinion or description about it! The only thing I saw which I really didn't want to see was the time length because freakin DTF on twitter posted it  :lol grrrr

I have not listened yet, but this is way harder than when I quit smoking cigars. I will probably cave soon.  Love the comments overall.  Right now I cannot wait for the North America Tour dates.  When I told my wife I would probably be going to Atlanta for the tour, she responded I will go and drop you off and make night of it shopping in Atlanta.  Boy, I can see her now burning up the credit card in Ikea. :)

Well I haven't read a single description  :lol

but seriously all I've read is that it's awesome and I seem to get the idea that it's heavy.. and well of course it is.

I listened to the first minute just to sate my need for new DT, but nothing further, so the rest of it will be completely new to me when I first listen through the album. I've read a lot about it though.

I made it almost a whole week without listening to the single, but caved tonight.  Two words come to mind - fast and furious. Those that lean toward the 'prog' aspect of DT probably thought 'wtf'.   This song is going to rock live. :metal

I heard it twice the day it came out, and once two days ago because I was hanging out with a friend and he had not heard it.

I won't listen to it again until 9/24.

I haven't listened to it, either - and I won't until I have the whole album.

Truth is, I wouldn't have been able to help myself a few years ago ;D

Dunno, it's just different for me now. All in good time for me (although would have been nice had I got to go to the listening party in London on Thursday!).

I don't really like metal TOO much, so I didn't like how it was super thrash-y and sinister half-tone riffs and stuff.

Thumbs up to the people who still haven't listened, you'll have a great time when you'll listen to the album for the first time  :tup I myself didn't even think about not listening - I decided that I wouldn't be able to resist anyway.

I wish I haven't listened either, but I was having a couple of days of musical void.
This song would probably work so much better when you listen to it after that opening track on the album.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.

To be honest I don't think TEI would be a great concert opener (not just because of my opinion on the song, but because it doesn't really sound like an opening song to my ears), but maybe my opinion will change when I hear it together with False Awakening Suite.

My original intention was to listen to TEI only once, but I wanted to watch the lyric video and after that I wanted to give the song one more chance, but I'm still not impressed.

That's the thing.  For ADTOE I did listen to OTBoA and definitely enjoyed the song, but it somehow diminished my album listening experience.  You know what I prefer?  I prefer having a 3 or 4 minute sampler from the album or, say, 20 second clips from each of the tracks.  I'm not a fan -at all- of releasing singles a month (or more in some cases) before an album.  And I will be avoiding them in the future because -for me- they seem to take away from that first experience with an album.

I think it will make a great opener. They've used a big high energy rock/metal song as the opener for a while now. BITS, ANTR, CM, TROAE, As I Am. I think TEI fits perfectly into that.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.
