Fringe was apparently mostly Vancouver. I knew Orphan Black was Canada, but I didn't know where specifically.

And now I think we're getting a little off topic. Maybe to a chat thread with this one. :lol

I don't actually watch Orphan Black, but did you catch the Season 2 premiere? A good friend of mine played Ramon, the weapon dealer in that episode.

I don't watch it either. I'm reluctant with new scifi shows, since they have a habit of cancelling them before they have a chance.
Has your friend been in anything else?

Umm... Rookie Blue is another series he did a guest spot in. Mostly indie films apart from that... So far.

I've only heard of it. Seems like he's off to a good start though.

I don't watch all that many new shows at the moment. My current Canadian shows are Warehouse 13 (which is just finishing off with a short final season), and Continuum, which is quickly becoming one of my favourite scifi shows ever.

Yeah, he's definitely off to a solid start, far ahead of me, but he deserves it. He worked his ass off in acting class for years.

The only half-Canadian show that I currently watch is Haven, even though it's set and shot in Maine. Everything else is 'Murican.

Most Canadian shows pose as American locations anyway, they just use it for the cheaper production costs. That's what I like about Continuum. It's actually set in Vancouver where it's shot. I only watched the pilot of Haven. It didn't interest me at the time, so I didn't watch any further.
I have a little joke whenever I watch a scifi show from Vancouver, when I see that it's raining I say "oh look, it's raining in Vancouver". Because it is apparently always raining or overcast. :lol

So you're into acting too?

Yeah, Haven was one of those shows that was a little too episodic at the start. It didn't start coming into its own with cool story arcs and such until way later. But I stuck with it, just because I love Maine and those kinds of coastline small towns.
That's the difficult thing about those shows to distinguish. So many of them are shot in Toronto, but it's really hard to say what would count as a "Canadian" show, or an "American" show that just happens to be shot in Canada. So usually, I'd go by the company that makes it, in which case, I wouldn't actually call Fringe a Canadian show.

Yeah, I'm off to my humble little start, haha: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5735679

I need to figure out how to get my picture up there, though. :/

It depends on how you want to think of it. If it's shot in Canada, with Canadian actors, that's enough cred for me, so I think of them as Canadian. I like seeing a lot of the same familiar faces. I caught an episode of Arctic Air the other week, and recognized the majority of the crew from scifi shows I watch. :lol
They're mostly American productions shot in Canada though. Only a relatively small number seem to be pure Canadian, like Continuum.

And you gotta start somewhere. One day if you're lucky, you might get typecast into some Canadian scifi! :metal

Yeah, it's kind of a toss up, I guess. ReGenesis was another great SciFi show, one that actually got me into TV shows in the first place, that was made and produced in Canada with a mix of Canadian and American cast. Too bad I don't see very many of them on TV anymore.

Here's to hoping! I do plan to help advance my career Sylverster Stallone style though, by writing my own scripts, and trying to get them produced. I kind of did that already before Christmas, which was the short film I did where I included this. (Thank you, Blob, for inspiring me to make that, by the way.  :tup )
I do want to include some kind of an homage to DT in one form or another in everything I end up producing.

Oh, by the way, that friend I mentioned above, he's the one who I said really dug the instrumental section of Outcry, even though he doesn't listen to anything of the sort.

Advancing your career Sylvester Stallone style. So you're going to make a porno first? :neverusethis:
With the availability of technology these days, it might even be worth trying to make some videos yourself with a group of friends, even just shorts. Write a script to suit what you have to work with.

By the way, you are aware that they were (are?) playing some of your videos, including your JP transformer commercial during the intermission of the current tour?

At the start of the tour, someone pointed it out to me, and I've checked out the full intermission video on Youtube. At the start of the tour, I try to keep up with what's happening, because things are still being sorted out and tweaked.

Tweaked? Are you talking about the MAIN show video stuff that you made for them?

Man, I really hope that intro video gets show in full, high quality on the upcoming DVD, and not just as some crappy camera footage shooting the screen. Otherwise, after the tour is over, I want that video, in good quality, dammit!

I was a little late with my video work this time, so for a couple of videos, I sent a rough/incomplete version for the start of the tour, then a week or so later was able to send the completed ones.
Also, the video director is still experimenting with live effects, and may occasionally ask for something specific for me, such as the drive-in theater projection they're doing this time. Just stuff like that.

They included the Mika Tyyska intro video on the LALP DVD, so it seems only natural that they'd include it this time too (depending on who is making it). Once I'm aware of who's working on it, I'm definitely going to bring it up, because I'd love to have it on there.

Yeah, that projection was really cool. Glad I caught that.

As for the video, yeah, I hope you're right. But I mean, they did that with Score too, right? And Dark Eternal Night... (right?) The issue I have is that all of those things were all the "Cartoon style DT" videos, so I suspect that they'll most certainly include the cartoon version of Enigma Machine on the DVD, which is cool. But I hope that in addition to that, the intro will be included as well. We'll see, I suppose. Fingers crossed!

I can't remember exactly what is included on each DVD. I have some of the original videos direct, so I don't remember if things were also on DVDs.
I think they should definitely include the Enigma Machine cartoon and the intro. It also depends on how/if they include the intro in the main show itself, but I hope it's also included separately.

I don't watch it either. I'm reluctant with new scifi shows, since they have a habit of cancelling them before they have a chance.
Hold it.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you watch a lot of those low-budget SyFy shows like Helix and Continuum?

Try Orphan Black, it's one of the best shows on TV, regardless of genre.

The only US/Canada scifi show I currently watch is Continuum, and that's not really a SyFy show, it just airs on SyFy in the US. Hence the fact it doesn't suck like a SyFy original series. :lol I've heard Helix is pretty bad, but I haven't seen any of it.

I've seen bits of Orphan Black, but haven't bothered to get into it. I'm also put off how how weird looking the main chick is. :lol One day I'll probably give it a proper try. I have several shows I need to catch up on at some point. I still haven't gotten around to checking out Fringe yet.
