GOD DAMN IT I love Save Our Now...and that it's beautiful ending leads into an equally beautiful song. Driving (not now OBVI), listening to it; upon my returneth home, a shot I shall raise to Mister Williams.

Devin was tweeting last night about how he was very proud of the new Z2 album but it sounds like he's pretty burned out after it. He mentioned multiple times he wants to take a break after the Royal Hall show, maybe up to a year?

Dude deserves a break, if wants to take one, that's absolutely okay. He's left plenty of material to mull over if he wants to have a vacation.

He definitely deserves the break. However long he decides to take a break for, he has more than enough music for us all to go back and listen to.

Took a risk with an Amazon seller and finally got the two-disc CoC in the mail.  :metal

I almost want him to take a break at this point. Otherwise he'd eventually be burned out completely. I'd still love for him to do something more laid back like CoC, and he mentioned doing just that. A little something special every couple years for a while wouldn't be so bad. Knowing him he'll probably still be pretty consistent but he needs to take at least some time off and do nothing at all.

Really like the Unplugged album, it's great as 'easy listening devy' music.

At the same time, bring on Z2 and new DTP!!  :lol For real though, after this releases and blows my expectations away, I'm just gonna want more. MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE!

Seems like the right time for a break at least. Z2 seemed to be on the to-do list since the 4 DTP albums were finished, maybe even earlier. Seems like the entire "reboot" of his career starting with Ki was leading up to this album. It's pretty exciting that for pretty much the first time since Ki, we have no idea what he'll do next. I'm totally fine with him taking a break to recharge his batteries and then come out with something totally fresh and unexpected sometime later.

Wasn't this partially the reason why he took a break after the first Ziltoid record?

I'm not too sure. But it sounds like he's got his ducks in a row and knows when to take a break. I like that very much.

I listened to CoC and liked it a bit, but I have to admit that it is not my cup of tea. Still, I am looking forward to the new DTP album and Ziltoid 2.  :tup

Having listened to the album twice now, I'm kind of in the same boat as Lolzeez. Mountaintop is awesome, but the rest of Casualties is... meh. I remember liking some of the songs enough to put them in my shuffle playlist, but overall I find this release really unmemorable. Which is a shame because Ki is my favorite album by him, and this seems to be the closest to it in sound.

And also a shame because I busted my ass looking for the album.  :lol

MAYBE YOU GUYS SHOULD CLEAN THE SEMEN OUT OF YOUR EAR HOLES!

Nah I can see how someone would think that. I was lucky enough to be in the mood for something very atmospheric and nuanced than the usual Devy material so I immediately warmed up to it and it just kept getting better with each listen for me. There's certainly some that I won't be listening to much, like Hejda (although the spoken word portion gives me goosebumps every time), Pure and Deathscope; but overall I think the restrained, laid-back vibe fits very well for what they were going for. I really feel like much of the album takes me through a desolate space journey and there just so happens to be some ghost cowboys.  :P

Me too, the album came at a good moment in my life.  I'm into chill, laidback,  soothing music. The vibe and calm nature of che's voice is really soothing.

I think if you go into this album expecting something like Ki (or any of his work really), you could be disappointed. Honestly the only similarity it has to Ki is Che. The vibes, tension/release, and periodic heaviness that really characterized Ki aren't present on Casualties.

I think Casualties works a lot better as background music. It's great to listen to it on a warm summer night while doing other things. I find I enjoy it a lot less when I'm listening to it in the middle of the day and not really doing anything else. It's a very atmospheric record and demands a certain mood when you're listening to it.

I think the album has a couple of good songs and a lot of forgetful ones, and they all sound very similar to my ears. There isn't a lot of change. Yes, I get it is not a fully progressive record, but I think it could have more memorable parts, could be more catchy.

I have nothing against "progressive" or "prog" music in general, but "Bones" is more beautiful than any prog song. Seriously, I would listen to all of Casualties (and Disc 2 AND the Bone USB contents) just for the privilege of hearing Bones. Such beauty should probably be illegal.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?
