For the most part, I just hate everything Robert Plant has ever done.

 :eek :eek :eek :eek

I...have...no...words.

:lol  For the longest time, I thought I hated Led Zep.  But then when I would hear covers of their songs by other people, I would often find myself liking them.  I eventually came to the conclusion that I just can't stand his voice.

Is "Sea of Love" the one with the video where there's Robert and a tuned percussionist, who stands there holding his mallets the entire song while we wait for solo, but he never takes a solo?

In that case, yeah, it's a good cover.  But I want that vibes solo, dammit.

Billy Ocean - Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)

This song was too popular not to feature at some point, it having gone to number 1 on the charts.  But I wasn't a fan, and I don't remember the video, so I got nothing. :lol

Another song where the way the singer pronounces certain words just bugged me, to the point where it really did spoil the song for me.

"Carribune Quin, now we're sharin the same drim.."

I was thinking this exact same thing.  "Caribune".  :lol

I think "Get Out Of My Dreams (Get Into My Pants)" was a better tune, but this one was okay.

Billy Vera and the Beaters - At This Moment

I think it is impossible for anyone who grew up in the 80s to not associate this song with Family Ties.  After all, this flop of a hit in the early 80s then hit it big in late 1986/early 1987 thanks to being featured as the love song between the characters Alex and Ellen on the show.  I never much cared for it, but it is impossible to hear it and not think of the show.

It was a good song the first time I heard it, but not so much after being played 80 bajillion more times after that.

Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up

Here we have it: the song that inspired the internet meme known as Rickrolling!  Personally, I never liked the song , but I do get a kick out of the Rickrolling parodies and whatnot.  And some may not know it, but this song was pretty huge at the time; I think it went to number 1 in countries all over the world.  A friend I used to work always joked that he was gonna karaoke a Rick Astley song when a bunch of us would go out for drinks after work many years ago, and I seemingly always had to talk him out of it :lol, although, to this day, I still don't know how serious he actually was.

Terrible song, and yes I remember it being huge.

And Rickrolling is the dumbest thing ever.

I didn't mind the song.  Like any other popular song, it got massively overplayed to the point where I can't stand it now, but that's never the fault of the song itself.  The coolest thing was the guy's voice, which you'd never expect from someone who looks like Rick Astley.

Also, this is relevant:

Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy

I hate this f'ing song.  There really are not enough words for how much dong this song sucks.  But it was a big number 1 hit, so I guess it had to be featured at some point.  At least that is my official stance.  My unofficial stance is that I wanted to feature it so we can all talk about how much it sucks, while waiting to see how many out themselves as being fans of this travesty of a song.  :lol

It's not the song itself, it's the performance.  Bobby is great at that.  I don't know if I've ever heard anything from him that I like, but I can't deny the man's amazing talent.

There was a strip in the old Bloom County comic where one of the animal characters in the cast-which was split half and half between humans and talking animals-was in a foul mood, and another walked up behind him and said "Don't worry, be happy!"

The next panel merely said this:

A SCENE OF UNIMAGINABLE VIOLENCE.

The last panel was the previously grouchy animal, now happy and whistling cheerfully, walking away from the battered remnants of the other guy.

That sums up my reaction to this song to a T.  :lol

George Michael - Faith

The title track from his 1987 album, this was another monster hit, and the video was noteworthy for the blue jeans he wore in them, although that kind of thing was not on my radar, a) cause I was 13, and b) I am a guy. :lol  Decent enough song, and it's easy to see why it was such a big hit, but I thought almost all of the other singles from the Faith album were better.

Upon further research, Faith was not only his biggest hit from that album - three others went to number 1, but it spent the most weeks at number 1 (4) - but it was the top-selling single of 1988.
