Typical 80s song, nothing special - more of a fan of "I'm Alright" from Caddyshack to be honest.

Ahh, Kenny Loggins, forever to be known as the Soundtrack Guy.  :lol

The Go-Go's - We Got the Beat

Featured during the opening sequence of Fast Times of Ridgemont High, this song reeks of the 80s, but never did a lot for me.

On a sidenote, it always bothers me that their band name has that apostrophe in it. :lol :lol

We used to play this song in High School Pep Band.  That bass line made for a pretty cool tuba part.

Agreed, but we did already cover Our Lips Are Sealed in this thread. ;)

Hmmm, I could see that.

As will I.

I associate it more with MTV than the movie, probably because it was on MTV and the radio pretty regularly, but I don't think I actually saw FTARH until much, much later (and it didn't make much of an impression on me, honestly).

Huey Lewis & the News - The Power of Love

It is impossible for me to hear or even talk about this song without thinking of the awesomeness that is the entire Back to the Future trilogy.  I remember seeing the first one at the theater back in 1985 and thinking it was the greatest movie ever.  And already being very familiar with Huey Lewis and the News, thanks to the tons of hits from his 1983 album Sports, I thought it was cool that they had done the main song for the movie.  The song itself is pretty good, not one of Huey's better hits, but it so tied to this movie that I can't help but enjoy it every time I hear it thanks to the movie association.

I think I'd have to agree with you, Kev - decent enough song on its own, but it's SO synonymous with the first BTTF movie that when you watch, you can't help but get into it.

"Wait a minute Doc, are you telling me that it's 8:25?  Damn! I'm late for school!" (cue Power of Love)

I also like the version that Marty's band the Pinheads launch in to during the school dance audition.  Marty was shredding some sweet licks before Huey himself shut them down for being "too darn loud."  What a dick.

I love that part. Far from the best Huey Lewis song, but memorable as hell from how it was used in the movie.

Phil Collins - Against All Odds

Oddly, I like this song more now than I did back then.  I wouldn't call it an 80s favorite by any means, but it is a very nice ballad.  It sure beats the hell out of all of that crap he released from No Jacket Required.  I have never seen the movie this song was written for.

Patrick Swayze - She's Like the Wind

A surprisingly good song, considering the singer, and another one that is impossible to not think of the movie it came from whenever you hear it.

Hip To Be Square- American Psycho The High-Fivin’ White Guys

Against All Odds sure didn’t last long  :lol

I actually remember liking that song when it came out. I knew it was basically a love song/ballad, but to my kid ears it sounded different than so many other long songs. So it got bonus points for being different. I guess. I never liked Phil Collins music either, so this was that one song of his I liked.

At the time all my female friends thought She’s Like the Wind was the greatest thing ever (or at least for that week) and forced me to listen to the whole thing. I thought I would hate it, but for what it was it was alright.

My best friend, when he was in high school, was a member of the school chorus, which meant he could sing fairly well-not a world beater, but good enough for government work. He provided me my lasting memory of She's Like The Wind by remarking when we first saw the video that "it sounds like someone scared they wouldn't make it trying out for the school chorus."  :lol

ITT, decent songs from excellent movies.  Raquel Welch

Swayze's vocal performance is surprisingly good.

Kenny Loggins - Footloose

I was never much of a fan of this song or the movie.  I did rock out to this song once when a bunch of us were at a club on NYE, I was hammered, and a girlfriend and I danced like crazy to it (she was a fan), but that's about it. :lol

Sammy Hagar - Winner Takes It All

A Sylvester Stallone movie about arm wrestling.  Need I say more? :P  But this song is damn good, and it's always been one of my favorites from Hagar's solo career.  Not surprisingly, the main song from Over the Top soundtrack was by Kenny Loggins :lol, but this was by far the better song.
