Yeah, but Deathaura has like a million different parts and this one isn't exactly a prog epic
The first(?) listening session report has been posted (in Finnish):
https://kaaoszine.fi/sonata-arctica-pariahs-child/A short summary of all the songs:
The Wolves Die Young: Strong single candidate, catchy chorus and melodic guitar solos
Running Lights: Major key-driven song with flashy solos, but not very fast
Take One Breath: Begins with a piano intro, relatively straightforward despite not having a traditional structure
Cloud Factory: Another cheerful song; the interlude features acoustic guitars and clapping
Blood: Very melancholy compared to the previous song; one of the proggiest on the album
What Did You Do in the War, Dad?: One of the most diverse songs, includes many tempo changes yet doesn't fall apart
Half a Marathon Man: Sounds like hard rock, begins and ends with the same acoustic theme
X Marks the Spot: Fast song (yet not old-Sonata-fast) with interesting vocals
Love: The only ballad
Larger Than Life: A bombastic epic with string arrangements and mood changes; the writer thinks it's on par with The Power of One
According to the summary at the end, the album isn't as "back-to-roots" as you may expect, as even the more power metalish songs include tempo changes and in a few tunes like X Marks the Spot Tony and co. go outside their comfort zone. Nevertheless, the writer expects old-school fans to like this more than the previous albums.
