It's like the apex of the story and is the most emotional song on the album imo.  The buildup at the beginning is so epic.  The part where the drums first come in after the first minute or so is one of my favorite moments on the whole album.  And then the way Casey's voice has that slight crack in the first "fail" during the first chorus... so raw and intense.

And the lyrics are the perfect description of what's going on (i.e., a naive "country" kid experiencing sex and women for the first time ever and having no idea how to react to it and just being completely overwhelmed)

Embrace is my favorite song on Act II. Fuck the haters.

Currently marathoning through all three acts in one sitting!  :metal

Little question:  Does Casey sing the whole way through Tripping in Triplets?  There is an obvious voice change, but I 'm not sure if it's a guest singer or Casey singing in a different style.  Anyone have the scoop?

The other singer is Cameron Thorne from Naive Thieves (who, incidentally, is also the person who did all the cover art).

If you like his super sweet voice as much as I do, they just released an EP themselves - check 'em out:  https://naivethieves.com/track/grindin-2

So last night I noticed how horrible the compression is on Act III.  :-\ Is the vinyl any better? I'll probably buy it anyways, but it'd be nice if the sonics on that are a lot better.

The vinyl of Act III sounds awesome.  Miles better than the Acts I/II vinyl.

To be fair, I downloaded these off the internet, so I don't know what the actual cd would look like... would be nice if someone could post those as a comparison.

Also, I apparently hear this stuff a lot more than most people, so I don't know if my ears are just super sensitive to this kind of thing, but I can definitely hear it throughout the album. The clipping towards the end of The Tank is phenomenal.

It's obvious that some stuff found on the internet will be more compressed than the actual CD. Also, the vinyl won't be less compressed (if anything it's the other way around).

I'm just comparing this to Act II, which I also got online. Obviously the CD will sound better than the MP3, but I feel like that clipping might be present on the CD too. It looks like another victim of the loudness war. I actually don't own any TDH on CD, I just have the vinyls (minus act 3) for everything so I'm basing this off downloads. Like I said, I would love to see some comparison shots of the CDs if anyone has the time to put some up

It sounds different, for sure. Definitely one of the most different sounding CD/vinyl comparisons I have, but I absolutely love the way it sounds on vinyl!

In fact, I wish my turntable was working properly cause I really wanna listen to that. I'm afraid to get it scratched though because it was getting some from the 10 times I played it or so  :-\

Hmm, could be your downloaded copy possibly. But honestly, even looking at that Audacity chart, it looks fine to me. Compressed yeah, but compression isn't a bad thing in itself.
