but yeah ill do it anyway

Lol... so did you?!?!

Apparently the band were not aware that people were gonna be rushing the stage like that again in Brooklyn.  I asked Nick S. about it in Philly and he was like "Yeah, I had no idea what was going on"

It did happen last time they played there, but Nick S. wasn't in the band then, so I guess nobody bothered to mention it to him...

So I bought the standard CD of TCS yesterday and I can't stop listening to it! :metal The opening track is my favorite so far.

This is the equivalent of turning down the opportunity to fuck Natalie Portman to fuck your sorta-cute next door neighbor.  Its still sex, but you could have done much better.

I disagree. I heard the whole thing but while some good songs are cut out on it, I prefer this compilation. I like how it's short, concise and very diverse with a style change at each track or so. I'm probably the only here thinking that but whatever. :lol

I thought about getting the Standard edition so I can listen to it when I want a TCS fix, but am strapped for time... but to substitute it completely for the whole project?

You should still try and get your hands on the other tracks. Some of them are growers for sure.

I haven't even bothered with the CD-version, I mean it has what, 11 or 12 tracks?
That just leaves out sooo many good ones.

I agree with you in that if you took out all the mediocre stuff from TCS and chose the best songs it would have made album of the year.  But in its current state, nope.  However, I disagree with you because you just bought the regular CD, which means you're missing out on a lot of good stuff, and the best from many of the EPs.  Best part is none of the songs they've picked for the setlist are mediocre and I'm very very excited for tomorrow.  :D

Well I can't buy anything else anyway. The vinyls are sold-out and the digital version is not available here in Canada.

I don't really think TCS has any filler-tracks like some people say.
I'll admit that Red is my least favorite by quite a bit (though still very good), apart from that there are only a few songs here and there that aren't AS great as the rest, but they are still very good.
"The Dead Don't Starve" is probably my least favorite song on the whole thing, not that it's bad, but the chorus get's repeated too many times.

Did a 3rd listen through TCS last night. It's just so time-consuming but I found myself loving melodies in most of the songs, and the music is always good.

So just download it from somewhere else and if/when it's available legally in Canada buy the download then. It's not like they left you many options. Buying the CD is a total waste of money when you could just be patient and get the whole thing. You'll be missing out on so much.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Listened to a good bit of TCS tonight after not listening to it for a while, 'twas just as awesome. Besides TCS, I think Act II is my favorite.

Yeah that's what I did. I bought the CD in the first place to have something physical. I do have the whole thing, it's just that I love the idea of a short and sweet compilation of the complete collection.

Yeah, IIRC, Casey couldn't bring himself to separate out a few tracks from each for the CD, so they had someone else do it, someone from the label I think. After listening to the whole thing as man times as I have, I feel the same way.

Here is what I would do
Filth and Squalor
We've Got A Score to Settle
Echo
Misplaced Devotion
The Canopy
Tripping in Triplets
Progress
Look Away
Home

And if I get to pick the extra track, I would probably include This Body.

The Inheritance instead of The Canopy and it's perfect.

The Inheritance
The Collapse of the Great Tide Cliffs

I'm surprised you guys like The Inheritance so much, I love the part with the harmonies but the rest of the song never really stood out to me.

Me too. Also, I feel good about which songs are on. I feel like it's a very good representation of the whole thing and it also have a nice flow even if it's a compilation. Maybe it's not the best songs, but it's a damn good album coming from the EPs. Top 5 from 2011 I'd say.

FYI - for those of you making your own tracklists, TDH actually has a contest going on right now contemplating this exact ideas.  It's through Spotify, so you just gotta get Spotify, create your own playlist and share it with them.  Details are on their FB page.

At this point your only options are to buy it second-hand from somebody else or to try to track down a record store that still has one in stock...

If you can find it, definitely do it. It's honestly the most amazing boxset I've ever seen. I'm actually afraid for mine because I've been playing the EPs so much lately.  :lol Might have to grab another if I can find it anywhere so I can keep one in good shape

"This next song is about meeting a homeless person in a park.  And you know that you have to fight him to protect your territory.  It'll make sense once you hear the lyrics." *band launches into "She's Always Singing"*  :lol

So yeah, TDH were awesome last night.  Didn't get a picture with Casey since he looked pretty exhausted but I shook his hand and let him know how much I enjoyed the show.  TCS stuff is really good live.

That's awesome. Glad to hear they're picking up some steam. I felt bad seeing them a couple years ago when it seemed like everyone was there for the opening bands. As much as I want TDH to have all the success in the world, for selfish reasons I don't really want them to get much more popular than a band like Dredg, simply because I like to see shows in smaller venues and have the musicians be more accessible..

Yeah... I remember I went to a local show like 2 years ago where there were FOUR local openers, and they were all terrible.  But by the time TDH went on there were literally maybe 20 people still there.  Made me so sad :(.

I would love to see them get a lot bigger.  I know they aren't exactly making tons of money right now, so I'm hoping they at least get a level where they can realistically sustain a career.
