The more I listen to it, the more I like it. As of right now, though, I still prefer EoP.

First question, guys. On the CD booklet, for Over the Edge, chorus, it is written "I'm drivin" and what I hear is "I'm drivEn". Am I wrong?
Second question : At the end of the chorus for Mislead, shouldn't it be "misled" (Then none of us will feel misled) instead of Mislead?
It's just for my personal information.

I noticed that too. I don't know why it's that way. I try not to ask questions about most of this albums lyrics, hehe.

HOWEVER, I enjoy Jeckyll and Hyde very much based on my own interpretation of the lyrics: that it's James venting about an admittedly "likely imaginary" scenario where he's trying to keep his cool while he records his vocals. Petrucci and Portnoy are guilting him about his shortcomings in the past and hounding him as he tries to record in the studio with them, the "peanut gallery," over his shoulder.

I know it's a stretch, but you actually can interpret the lyrics that way without really have to make any big stretches. I like it.

Feel free to disagree with my interpretation  ;D

I ordered this online 2 days ago but I actually saw it in store today.  I couldn't believe it, a store in Australia having 6 copies of this no more than a week after the release date.  I was a sucker and since having ordered the deluxe copy online, I caved and purchased the standard edition today, I just couldn't walk away without it.

I've listened to the first 5 songs and am really enjoying it.  I love Euphoric, that really has a Soilwork/In Flames atmosphere going on with the music.  I'm up to I Need You and this has an amazing pre chorus and chorus.  Mislead's chorus is amazing also!

I gotta say, Matt's background vocals are amazing!!!

After my first full listening I am very impressed.  It's not as good as EOP yet and I don't think it will be, that was a very special album to me and I never expected this to top it.

I gotta say, I really don't think this is heavier than EOP, it's more modern for sure, but I would say that EOP is the heavier album.  Just because it has screams doesn't automatically make it heavier.  With the screams, I love them, no one should have a problem with them, only a few songs and placed very nicely throughout the songs.  I am impressed with James for doing this album and trying something different, and his writing abilities are really great, the next DT should be interesting.

Sfogli and Guillory don't seem as impressive on this one as they did on EOP, I mainly think that because they had a lot more room on EOP for solos, but that doesn't bother me as James has really made this album a band effort, no ego's, just some dudes working on some great songs, James seems like a really great person to work with and it shows through the strength of his music.

As for the sameness of the songs, I don't mind it, I really like the consistency and flow of the album.  The only songs I didn't really enjoy on first listen was Just Watch Me and Coming Home.  Just Watch Me seemed a bit plain on first listen, although I'm sure will grow.  Coming Home really was doing it for me.  Should have been a bonus track or something, and I don't think falsetto is James' strong point.  Nice melodies though which reminded me of Smashed from EOP.

I also love the Soilwork and In Flames style atmosphere on this record to.  Jekyll or Hyde could have fitted nicely in on Soilwork's Figure Number Five or even Stabbing the Drama.  The style that James and Matt were going for, they really nailed it.
A wonderful modern, consistent group of songs that I'm sure I'll be listening to for a while.

On my second listen and it's even better than the first.  One More Time and Mislead are amazing!!

I think they should have seperated Euphoric and Over the Edge as the chorus' sound pretty much the same.

I think Static Impulse is 1000 times more interesting than EoP. Coming Home is a great song. I hope there's a song like that on the new DT album.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Love the album.
The first three tracks are fantastic, and I dig the way the album ends with Coming Home, which was a much-needed ballad.
Shame I can't see him live this tour. Stupid lack of Canadian dates...

DREAM THEATER singer James LaBrie will embark on a North American solo tour this winter. LaBrie wll perform material from his side project MULLMUZZLER as well as his two solo albums, 2005's "Elements Of Persuasion" and his newest CD, "Static Impulse", which was released last week via InsideOut Music.

Commented LaBrie: "[Keyboardist] Matt [Guillory], [guitarist] Marco [Sfogli], [drummer/vocalist] Peter [Wildoer], [bassist] Ray [Riendeau] and I are extremely psyched to announce a tour in support of the new album, 'Static Impulse'. Everyone that played on the disc will be on stage. This is going to be a very powerful and memorable evening. Just us and the fans doing what we both love doing. Added Guillory: "James, Marco, Ray, Peter, and myself are all really excited about touring the U.S. and Canada in support of our new album, 'Static Impulse'. The response we've been getting since the album was released has been so amazing. We can't wait to play this stuff live. This is going to be a lot of fun. I quite liked the album. James did an incredible job, there are some beautiful melodies, but it still rocks a lot. I'm still not into harsh vocals, but a bunch of people thinks those growls give a nice touch to the songs, so what do I know.

Favorites: One more time (it has grown on me a lot), Jekyll or Hyde, Who you think I am, I need you, I tried.

First listen of Static Impulse commencing!

EDIT: I was listening to some EOP songs earlier today, and I noticed that the guitar player didn't really play the riffs the way the album sounded like they should be played, i.e. heavy.  Metallica play riffs with the side of their pick to give the riff a heavy, "scrunch" sound that really improves it.  On "Over the Edge" right now, and Marco has gotten better at this.  I'm liking this better than EOP as a whole as well.  Always good to hear James soar.

So every song so far has been pretty good.  On "Who Do You Think I Am" right now though...and it's pretty bad.

That's cause they used John's Musicman on EoP, which just isn't very good at sounding heavy without the proper equipment, layering, etc going on.

I mean, the SOUND was heavy, but theres a technique for PLAYING heavy that I couldn't hear, and it didn't sound as heavy as it could.

While I like Static Impulse, one of the biggest pluses from it so far is that it got me to re-listen to EoP. Such a great album.

Generally speaking, many touring musicians only recognize Toronto and Montreal as potential venues in Canada. And yeah, it blows. Imagine being way the hell out east in Halifax...the closest date on a given tour, if you're remarkably lucky, is Quebec City.

This is a killer-sweet album!

I picked up the last copy at my local Record Theatre on September 30th, and I've heard the album 4 times through.

The only songs I don't care for are One More Time, Jekyll or Hyde, This is War, and Superstar.
The rest of the songs are spectacular, especially Euphoric and Over the Edge.
