Wow, that is not what I was expecting at all.  Very pop-sounding kind of song.  But I like it a LOT.  Seems like you guys really have a lot of diversity going on on this album, and I mean that in a very positive way.  Very nice.   :tup

Whoa this is awesome, both music and lyrics (the vacant space between your ears doesn't get it - LYRICAL BURN OF THE YEAR), nice job Matt :metal

James sounds excellent.

Wow, this one is very different. The pop influences Matt was talking about are truly notable here. It needs a few more listens, definitely.

This new song has pop sounding and not what I expected as well. Not bad but quite surprising. Aside from it James' vocal is absolutely amazing, one of his best.

Didn't enjoy this one as much as Agony, although I still didn't mind it at all. Could be a grower :tup

But I hope JLB's vocals on the DT album are as good as this, because they're great here.

Same here. Loved the melody but the silly lyrics stood out for me and I usually don't mind that (I absolutely love Jupiter Island and Linton Samuel Dawson for instance, from PT) but they were kind of in the foreground and it will take a while to just enjoy the song without actually listening to what's being said.
I don't mind such songs being on the album though, definitely didn't expect something like that. Variety is nice. James sounds fantastic.

James LaBrie - Back On The Ground

Music and lyrics by yours truly! ;)

Where's what I thought of this song as of last week:

Quote from: Dr. DTVT
There are not really any weak tracks, and the trio of “Agony”, “Back On the Ground”, and “Lost In the Fire” I would initially call my three favorite tracks, and a good indicator of the variety on the album.

I didn't have any problem with the lyrics (lyrics don't matter to me), the melodies just threw me off a bit. But that's typical for a first listen of a song for me, so I'm sure it will grow on me. I'm happy with the quality of the album so far. :tup

Thats some fine catchy song you got there...haha. This is a great song, very melodic and great atmosphere. JLBs vocals are the focus of this song and he has healed to near perfection. This is gonna knock SI out of the water. Can't wait to hear the rest.

The fourth track, “Back on the Ground” has a structure and beautiful vocal melodies of a power ballad, but one that, at times, goes on steroids and turns up the power aspect to 11. In a perfect world I think a track like this could see significant radio airplay.

Hey, you're not the only one that saw this one coming as a single. :D

Really fantastic choice, and one that I really hope helps move the album Matt.

I might need a few more listens to get into this one. It definitely has a poppier edge to it, which is not usually something I enjoy, so I'm gonna reserve my full opinion until I give a couple more listens. Right now though, I do find it interesting and more than good enough to warrant giving it more listens to fully appreciate it.

Just :caffeine:

The chorus is reeeeally catchy, first listen and it already stucked in my head! I think I will listen to this song less than 'Agony' so I won't flog it into the ground. Or then it will back on the ground in the release day :neverusethis:
