For Blu Ray's with lossless receivers it will be a huge difference.   I've seen this director's work before and he hasn't disappointed me yet.

The audio mix is Chycki; the director is not involved with that as far as I know. I'm sure the video will be great though. Even from these two videos, I'm enjoying the camera work a lot more than LALP, which disappointed me a bit in that regard.
For camera work, I doubt they'll achieve what they did with Budokan. That looked so amazing.

?

There must be at least some bonus features, because the DVD release includes two discs (unless the show is split over the two discs, which would suck). Maybe there's footage of rehearsals with the orchestra and/or some of the screen projections?

Still the benchmark after a decade. :tup
But so far BTFW is looking to be an improvement over LALP. LALP didn't have a lot of wider shots that gave the whole stage, so it made it feel smaller. Budokan had a lot of great wide shots that gave it that huge cinematic feel.

That is probably about right.  I think JP is probably around 5'10", with the other guys being slightly shorter.

I'm 5'10"
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Just picked up the BluRay from a local store that didn't care for the street date.

The packaging is really, really cheap. It's basically wrapped in a paper (like a CD "digipak"). First time I see this on a concert BluRay.

My preorder status in DT EU store is - closed. All hope is lost.

In Finland atleast one record store is of course selling the bluray tomorrow... glad I preordered. Again.  ;D

I got a feeling we'll get commentary and I base that on absolutely nothing.

When you guys talk about commentary I just think of sports commentary... that'd be a great idea. Throughout the concert all you'd get is:

"It looks as if Mangini missed a snare hit there Dom."
"Agreed Howard, he appeared to be put off by the click track. I hope that doesn't affect his confidence as we approach the end of the first set."

"Oh, it appears as if La Brie has sung a swear word during The Test That Stumped Them All. That kind of behaviour has no place in modern rock concerts."
"I'm with you Howard, I just hope he hasn't ruined it for the rest of the band."

"So as Petrucci approaches his pedalboard he prepares himself for the big solo... MY WORD! HE'S DONE IT! DID YOU SEE THAT ALTERNATE PICKING LICK?!"

This made me think of this classic:

Any bonus features?

Only the animated videos from Enigma Machine and Illumination Theory in fullscreen and a photo gallery. No commentary.

Can't write more. Have to start watching....

2 videos and a photo gallery?! I am seriously disappointed. I'm glad I just got the cheap Bluray on Amazon this time.

I don't care about the extras but the inconvenience pisses me off.   I  want Blue Ray + 3 CD.   which,  of course, I can only get at RR for $50 + $8 shipping.   Sorry  DT,  I love you but I'll get the Amazon BR for less than $20 and look for the audio elsewhere.

I probably would have paid the $50 to be done with it and support the band but at that price I'm not over paying for shipping too.

Release date tomorrow and I haven't even gotten any shipping confirmation :-\

Just finished watching it. First impression: :omg:

I'm still hyped by finally listening to it, but I'm certain that this will stand as their best live release since Score.

Give us more than that!!!

Having watched a few songs from it, I'm inclined to agree. Apart from some annoying visual overlays on scarred it's really well shot and the camera work is really methodical.

This tour had the best setlist i have ever seen them perform and having it comittrd to disc is special.
Performances are great as it was when I saw them a few months back.

Live scenes will always be special to me as I was in the front row for that show but apart from that this is their best live effort imo.

Yeah the shipping was a kick in the gut too.  Just when I came to grips with the exorbitant price I realized there was no free shipping offer when you spend way too fucking much.

Now that we find out there are next to no bonus features, I can honestly say I'm pissed.

I'll refrain from being too negative because in the end I won't let this affect my support of the band but they better get their act together for the next DVD.

Crap...that's the one I was going to order in a couple weeks.

The email said that they should restock within a month. Not very promising. I sent a disappointed email to RR. I ordered the thing a month ago, and there's no place to get the CD's other than buying it with the Blu Ray. Also, I paid more for the Blu Ray than I would on Amazon just so I could get the CD's.

A month?   Wow.   They'd better be taking cancellations that's brutal.

I ordered mine (bluray + cds) Sept 15th and it shipped.  I can't believe they have it on backorder already.  That is piss poor planning.  Sorry to those that have to deal with their ineptitude.   ::) :-\
