Shadow2222

Awesome! It would be doubly awesome if it cracks the top 3 in the US!

cyberdrummer

To compare, BC&SL made #2 in Japan. Not sure about ADTOE.

bosk1

???  I thought they don't release those until next week when the weekly sales numbers come in.

cyberdrummer

I think it's been out in Japan for a week. I'm not gonna argue with the RR Twitter account anyway.

The album came out on the 18th in Japan.

Progmetty

I think it's been a week since the Japanese release.

cyberdrummer

#7
In the UK midweek charts, it was #9. https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/updatealbums

ADTOE made #17, so hopefully DT12 will improve on that.

BlobVanDam

I hope they can improve upon their already great previous results on the US charts. What's their competition this week? I know they've had some tough ones in the past.

cyberdrummer

Kings of Leon and Elton John both released albums this week. Not sure who else.

It's pretty tough. Drake, Cher, Elton John, Sting, Kings of Leon, and Metallica's Through the Never soundtrack.

Zydar

The new album from Justin Timberlake is apparently released tomorrow.

Yep, that's some competition! Hopefully DT can still at least crack the top #10. It will be interesting to see how close they get to some of these big names.

Interestingly, I've always found that Amazon is pretty telling in the US for chart positions, and they are 6th best selling right now, being beaten by, in order, Drake, Elton John, Cher, Kings of Leon, and Sting.

Pretty impressive that they are in front of Metallica by such a large margin, despite that the Metallica release is kind of a weird hybrid between sound track and live album.  Then again, although I haven't been paying much attention, I do not recall seeing much promotion at all for the Metallica album.

Side note:  I find it a bit odd that despite titling the movie/album "Through The Never," the song Through The Never is not played.

Progmetty

Metallica have been promoting the movie/soundtrack here and there, there were on the Colbert Report the other night and Howard Stern last week and also brought back the Sirius XM Mandatory Metallica radio station. But I understand why the soundtrack is not doing so well since everybody knows it's just live material and nothing new. I think there's a chance it would move to a higher chart position after the movie opens on Friday though.

DreamerTV

They are first on amazon.it (italy) bestseller chart.

Haha, I agree. I was pretty excited thinking, "Oh, cool, that will be great on the DVD."

?

There was a thread already ;) https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=39191.0

Anyway, DT won't top the Finnish charts because a really popular rapper released his album on the same day, but hopefully they'll crack the top 3.

Pale Tone?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvkuJR9dpzk  :krushgroove:

?

Luckily not that one :lol

It's a guy called Cheek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81Ejyr-ddgw That video has over 4 million views and he just played a sold-out show at the Helsinki Ice Hall (where DT are also going to play in February), so it's gonna be pretty tough for DT to beat him.

Haha xD Just joking!
But yeah, Can't blame Cheek. He has build his career by himself and is succesful because of hard work.. Got to respect him for that.

The Stray Seed

I had already opened a thread about the position of the new album in charts (two days ago), a new one is created and... mine gets locked?

This is really disappointing.

cyberdrummer

Well this one had the news about the Japanese charts in it, there's no point having two...

I wouldn't get too disappointed, it's only a thread on a forum.  :tup

It's a hard knock life!

Moor

I am sure we will have great results...the restless angels are doing their job

Anguyen92

Looks like DT is going to enter in 7th place on the Billboard 200 with 30k copies.  I mean, it's not that bad, though I'm sure you guys were expecting a little more for the 1st week, though there are a lot of stiff competition.

Prog Snob

I have to be completely honest.  I've never heard of this Drake person.

?

Wasn't ADTOE #8 and BC&SL #6 on Billboard 200? If that's the case, #7 isn't bad at all.

wasteland

Anywhere in the top 10 is already a great great success! :)

Captain Reddot

There's advertisements for the new Metallica film in tube stations across London, I couldn't even imagine that happening with Dream Theater. It's pretty impressive how high they've charted.

berrege

Not a great chart position in Belgium, but the taste of my fellow countrymen isn't great.

#25 in Flanders
#30 in Wallonia

Comparison: the highest peak for a Dream Theater album since SDOIT in Flanders is #22 (ADTOE), so I think DT12 will become the highest ranked DT album here :metal
