Wow, this would be the first time since WDADU that we only get one epic? Not going to complain, I was hoping that they'd tone down the long songs a bit.

Well, that length basically 100% confirms these song lengths:

1. False Awakening Suite – 2:42
2. The Enemy Inside – 6:17
3. The Looking Glass – 4:53
4. Enigma Machine – 6:01
5. The Bigger Picture – 7:40
6. Behind The Veil – 6:52
7. Surrender To Reason – 6:34
8. Along For The Ride – 4:45
9. Illumination Theory – 22:17

So, I was right then.

I posted these track lengths a few weeks ago on our Dream Theater Venezuela fansite. The "foreign forum" that someone mentioned here.

Such short songs... So this means no long instrumental interludes. Is this that "mainstream" thing?

Eh... I was hoping for at least one other song going 10+ mins.
I like long songs. I also like short songs. Their last few albums have had many long songs, so more short songs does not bother me.

I agree with this totally. There are times length =/= quality. If these are the official song lengths, I'll be happy with them.

So you're saying DT12 is one album length song?  ???

Tis BOOLsheet

I'm guessing that Looking Glass and Along For the Ride are the ballads/slow tunes. Then we have an instrumental, and an epic which I expect to be no less than amazing. And now we're getting Enemy tomorrow.

I hope Along For The Ride is a pre epic warmup ballad worthy of Wait For Sleep and Disappear. :D

Not really. The songs on DT12 are distinct and don't belong to a larger piece. Six Degrees is one long 42 minute song.

*annoying ass image*

My point is yes SDOIT had a lot of short tracks but it still had at least 3 if not 4 (depends on how you look at the second disc) songs over 10 minutes

I hope it's a great song since they named their tour after it. :lol

 You guys are absolutely correct, but I'm not even going to bother getting into this again... :lol

Shorter songs can have good instrumental sections. Innocence Faded was only 5:42 and the ending solo on that kicks ass imo. It's not very long, but it smokes. So there won't be any extended instrumentals on this album. I'm ok with that.

A song doesn't have to be long to be epic (although I get that thinking so is a common misconception).

Depends on your definition of an epic.

Seeing as no time has been confirmed for its release tomorrow, who's going to be on their computer all day tomorrow refreshing?

Not me. If I was that desperate to hear it for the first time, my blood pressure = through the roof.

I'm going to do what I can do distract myself until the time is right. I'm not going to overlisten this single like I did with OTBOA.

TheGreatPretender

I'll be working til like 6 PM, so hopefully by the time I'm done, it'll be up in all regions. Of course, that will be the longest work day of my life, and I'll be mentally eaten by the fact that there are bastards out there listening to the new DT song before me.

I won't stay up, I'm just hoping to be able to listen to the single as soon as I wake up tomorrow.
