The Fatal Tragedy

Speaking of artwork, I have a question for EnjoyTheRide. You guys were given digital image masters of the original artwork used for the Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory album to be used on your vinyl re-issue. What was the pixel resolution of the front cover artwork?

The red & gold swirl is sold out, according to the Brookvale Records site.

I just got an email saying it shipped. I thought it wasn't until February

Were there ever any updates to your tracking? I'm asking out of curiosity, because I just got an email saying it was shipped as well  :lol!

SystematicThought

Nope, no changes. So 2 options.

1)Admin's right and they are printing the labels in advance
2) The USPS (like they do a lot) don't update the tracking.

It's probably most definitely Option 1. They haven't even made the vinyl jackets yet  :lol

Shadow2222

^ I'm sure its Option 1, but it still is amusing  :) It makes the wait a little tougher.

It is option 1. The records are being pressed at the plant this week and should start arriving the first week in February hopefully/likely

Hey!

About this "release".....I already got this record on vinyl. How is that possible?! Is there a possibility that it´s.....fake?!

I ordered a new copy anyway. But it´s a bit weird.

Shadow2222

^ It does exist on vinyl. Looks like you may have a relatively good condition one. It's very rare (and expensive), so keep it in good condition.

This is a re-release on double vinyl with a higher sound quality.

Cedar redaC

It talks about that somewhere on earlier in the thread. Basically, you've got something special there. The new release isn't a bad purchase either.

Ah! I see! Ok :) I started to wonder.

Yeah I´ve been pretty lucky with this buy. It´s in really good shape. Maybe I´ll frame it or something when I get the new one :)

Thanks for the reply, Shadow2222

When it comes time for 6 Degrees, how much will the 3rd disc drive the price up?

Not sure yet, Will probably also be a tri fold jacket and ideally not more than $10

In my spare time I make music! Check it out. :)

EnjoyTheRide said, further up thread, that they plan on releasing all the albums after IAW on vinyl, with the obvious exceptions of the last 3 (which have officially been released on vinyl from RoadRunner).

So, in short, YES, Awake will be on vinyl at some point. Whether or not it's the next one, we're not sure, but I'd be happy if they released them like this:

SFAM
IAW
SDOIT
Awake
TOT
FII
8VM

Do a little back-and-forth hopping around the discography, just to spice it up. It also gives us their best album next! I'd just like to see 2 a year from here on out, which would mean SDOIT by year's end, and Awake and TOT in 2014, then FII and 8VM in 2015 (and by then, DT13 might already be in the making/released).

But .. but they already did SFAM.  6DOIT... meh. It's far down on DT rank list. I'd like to see 8VM long before your proposed time.

I can guarantee you that SDOIT will rank a lot higher for the majority of people than Octavarium, and rightfully so. ;)

WRONGFULLY SO.  6DOIT is my least listened disc aside from WDADU.  The weird flute like nonsense in Solitary Shell does it in for me.

To me 8VM is near perfect aside from Panic Attack (lets leave this off the Vinyl) and the last 10 mins or so of 8VM Track can go too. Not a fan of the MP written chunk..

BlobVanDam

Calm down. They're not releasing them based on what you personally want, and SDOIT is the much more highly regarded album, often counted in the "big 3" or "big 4" of DT albums. The same doesn't hold true for Octavarium among the fanbase in general.

I hardly see anyone fapping over 6DOIT on here... *shrug*

Edit: Aside from it's production, which it seems pretty well believed this is their best 'sounding' album production wise.

Well I'll take your word for it. You surely know the general consensus of this forum a lot better with your 5 days of online time than I would with my mere 486 days of online time in the same period.

Scorpion

Look closer. I can guarantee you that there are many people that regard this album as the pinnacle of DT's work, like me and Blob (to only name two) - heck, I bet if you opened a poll right now asking people for their favourite DT album, that SDOIT would make the Top 3 with ease.

Just because I don't stay logged in doesn't mean I'm not here reading. Sorry just don't see it with 6DOIT.

I believe we had a poll where it actually was 3rd, even ahead of Awake (like I'd forget something like that :lol). Not sure you'd get the exact same result if you did it again, but the popularity of the album is undeniable, especially compared to Octavarium, which is ranked middle to lower of the pack.

Mindflux, 6Doit does usually end up in the top 3 or 4 whenever we vote.

The Letter M

Here's a thread I found with a poll on DT's best albums:

https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=4748.0

And the results were...

Quote
When Dream And Day Unite 1 (0.3%)
Images and Words 90 (25.5%)
Awake 72 (20.4%)
Falling Into Infinity 3 (0.8%)
Metropolis Pt.2 Scenes from a Memory 85 (24.1%)
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 46 (13%)
Train of Thought 17 (4.8%)
Sytematic Chaos 4 (1.1%)
Octavarium 20 (5.7%)
Black Clouds and Silver Linings 15 (4.2%)

And ranked...
Images And Words
Scenes From A Memory
Awake
Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence
Octavarium
Train Of Thought
Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Systematic Chaos
Falling Into Infinity
When Dream And Day Unite

However, this was before ADTOE came out, so the rankings might be a bit different now.

-Marc.

Perpetual Change

Six Degrees is weird. It wasn't received as well as Scenes when it came out, but it's standing has gone up with each subsequent release, until ADTOE. From 8va thru BCSL, it was very easy to consider each new DT album as "the best since Six Degrees".

Mindflux, I've seen you get an attitude with quite a few people recently. Just calm down and enjoy the forum   :tup

Six Degrees is most definitely a well received album here.
