We are Very happy to announce that the pre order as gone up for our deluxe vinyl re-issue of "Images and Words" in conjunction with ATCO & Brookvale Records. The album was remastered specifically for vinyl and wil be pressed on a double lp set which are both 180 gram records. These are now available at https://brookvalerecords.com/dream-theater-images-and-words-on-vinyl/ and will begin shipping mid February. The test presses were already approved and sound amazing compared to the original vinyl release which was a single lp and quite honestly sounded awful.

These are limited to 2000 TOTAL HAND NUMBERED COPIES(1500 on black available via Indie Retail stores and 500 on Red/Gold Swirl exclusively available at the link below).

This also marks the first time this album is being released on vinyl in North America. Grab one while they are still available

Sorry, I'm not paying 3 times the price of the object for having it shipped, as much as I'd love to have one.

How good is the Scenes LP? One reason I never get DT vinyls is because DT themselves don't seem to be interested in them.

We are not handling the distribution(both direct and to retail stores) and/or shipping of these releases nor was i was aware of the price for international before someone mentioned it. My label has handled the licensing and manufacturing/Marketing of the physical albums(basically securing the rights from the label and creating the artwork layout/remastering and placing the order for the release) but That being said, I spoke with the owner of brookvale records and basically I was told that we had alot of issues with the last dream theater release being lost in transit overseas due to the fact that we are not able to purchase tracking and confirmation for under $75. There is an option for  tracking through customs for $35 but that does not include a signature of any info regarding what happens once it passes through customs. Due to the fact we had to pay out of pocket to replace a few dozen lost releases last time around, he has decided to only offer a signature and confirmation international option.

I am sorry about this but it is out of my control. If people want I can try to see if we can add an option for $35 shipping without a signature/tracking option for overseas but the risk would be on the buyer in terms of it getting lost in transit. Let me know if people would prefer that for the Red/Gold variant out of 500 which will be the rarest clearly out of the two. I understand that some people like to collect all the versions/variants so I will do my best to accomodate those overseas who are going to try and do so.

The Black variant which is out of 1500 will be available via Amazon USA soon though which i assume will have a more reasonable price for shipping although I am not sure of their policy in regards to tracking info either

The band has approved all of these releases and helped promote via their website and facebook pages last time around for Images and Words re-issue that we put out In Nov 2011

Look forward to buying this if the shipping comes down. Loved the previous LP, so i'm sure this will be equally good.

Here's a question though, hopefully i'm not missing an obvious answer.

Given the Scenes LP sold out quicker than proverbial cakes of the hot variety, why are you producing 1000 less copies, of what was/is a more popular album?

Cedar redaC

Hmm, the red and gold vinyl looks killer, but my inner "support local business"-dude may have to just get the black vinyl through my local record store. Either way, this is a super cool release, and I'll definitely be picking up a copy. :metal

Is this the same LP I preordered on Amazon a month ago? Or should I cancel that I preorder it from this site?

Edit: Nevermind. I get it now. Ordering this colored set instead. Why are there two records though?

Didn't even think about that until now, but I suppose to allow for the best sound on each side of vinyl? I'm not very knowledgeable in the world of vinyl music, but doesn't the sound quality become greater if you have less music on each side? With a double for this album, it would mean there'd be 2 songs per side:
Side 1 ~ 12:35
Side 2 ~ 13:51
Side 3 ~ 16:36
Side 4 ~ 14:03

Meh. I'll stick to my mint condition first print on vinyl. Mine's worth more too.  :rollin

I want it but the shipping... Oh man...

Well, long story. From some record store that was closing. They had some deals. I got my copy of Genesis' Trespass and The Lamb. I was about to leave. Then I saw something on the shelf. I don't know how the hell I spotted it. It was next to some junk like old disco compilations. Shining bright. That spine. I spotted it from far away. That text man. That text... And then,I grabbed it. I was shocked. The dude in the counter playing WoW was looking at me like I was some freak. I could not believe that I found the album for... like 2 dollars. Yeah...

Imwouldmbuy this right away, if only I had a vinyl player. They should release a digital high quality remaster too, as they did with ADTOE on HD tracks...

Ordered.  I have no qualms about $30+ shipping because these babies go WAY up in value as soon as they are sold out.

Sound quality is based on amount of music per side as well as mastering. Any lp should not have more than 22 minutes per side, the less the time per side than the better the sound quality

Wow, I was not aware of this! The wonders of analogic recordings! So there is no actual "empty space" left in a vinyl, whatever the lenght of it's content may be?

The $75 shipping for international was an error and has been changed by Brookvale records to $45 or something which is the exact cost from the usps with tracking.

Very sorry about that and if you already ordered then please email me in regards to a partial shipping refund

Most lp's have a few extra minutes per side because until it reaches the 22-23 minute mark but for the most part. Sound is always better with less time per side and proper mastering for the vinyl format

TheSoylentMan

One question - were you able to secure full resolution cover art this time? I know with the SFAM release the cover was a little blurry due to the source files provided by the label. I am excited for this release either way, just wanting to know what to expect.
