I hope they don't put all of I&W on DVD because I want their first decent concert dvd since 2006 (!) to be a good mix of everything.

cramx3

As much as I would love all of I&W on DVD, I believe they can put out something better with the new songs plus the various old tunes with MM.

theGonz

I think they will play LNF and TITS on the NA leg. I'm hoping they'll play all of ADTOE on that second NY show, AND that second night will be a true Evening with show.

*fingers crossed*

Look at the right side, it says "An Evening with Dream Theater"!
The DVD could be very possibly recorded there.

Yes, Yes! This tour is about ADTOE and MM and a new era of Dream Theater. I'd be really surprised if its not played.

The first three shows are without a band playing before DT hits the stage. Quite possible that only those 3 shows are going to be "An Evening With." Or maybe they all are but I doubt both of those are true.

Double shows at Paramount Theater in Huntington, NY has got to be the DVD.

Maybe those three shows before the Crimson Projeckt joins the tour could be practice-runs for an Evening With set later in the tour in NYC. They certainly would be able to get the practice in.

Though I'm not attending those I hope they are Evening With shows.

It's also extremely good news to see that show listed as 'An Evening With Dream Theater.'

robwebster

Ahaaa!

A twist in the tale! Very plausible.

(Also makes Images and Words on the two-night stand... certainly a lot more possible.)

I still think it's a small chance overall, but the chance is significantly better than before. If one of the shows is An Evening With, then we could assume that show will likely be the DVD shoot show, or at least the most plausible.

I don't know where this idea of playing IaW comes from. They did it already, it was said they wouldn't be celebrating every anniversary for albums, it was MP's idea to do those anyway, and they have a regular DVD filming coming up with at least a couple of albums of new material that could be played that needs an Evening With show. There's no reason to think IaW comes into play here.

No reason, but there is still a possibility, although highly unlikely.

Totally with you on that, but the now less explicable two-nighter makes the idea less ridiculous for sure. They could play Images and Words there. Don't think they're going to, but if Huntington's not a DVD... IAW's as good a guess as anything. Not my personal guess, but a decent one.

Shadow2222

Hmm, usually the first or second show of a tour isn't the DVD shoot, especially when you consider new songs will be in the mix. However, if that "An Evening With..." is true, I'm not sure what to think.

KevShmev

Well, anything's possible, but I don't see the point of them playing all of I&W.  Like many have said already, most of the songs have been well-represented in set lists over the years already (Another Day being the one that doesn't seem to get played hardly at all anymore), so that is good enough.  A well-rounded set list is the way to go.

Anything's possible. But I don't see that it's possible enough that we're even discussing it. It's also possible they'll do a cover of Speedway Boulevard. But since they're filming a regular DVD this leg, I'd say that puts it at negligible chance of anything but a typical but extended setlist.

It would be really cool to see Another Day pop into the set as a song to represent I&W on this upcoming tour.

Shadow2222

^ This I agree with. Would love to see Another Day.

cramx3

As much as id also like to see another day... I still haven't gotten to see my favorite dt song live yet so I'm pushing for learning to live. And since they've done it a handful of times with mm its a possibility.

Considering that I&W was a template for the writing much of ADTOE, I would say that I&W has been very much on the minds of DT.   I may be wrong, but there are some factors that may suggest they might celebrate the anniversary on this leg.  It was released 30 years ago in June.

As we do best, i am just postulating

It's 20 years and let's not bring up the whole I&W-ADTOE situation again. It didn't exactly work out for the people who brought it up the first 5 times, at least.

Count of Tuscany and full band SDV :-D

I thought this was just a typo the first time you mentioned it, but now that you mentioned it again, how old do you think Dream Theater is?  :lol

Considering that the IaW/ADTOE connection was a near baseless conspiracy theory that only a handful of people here takes seriously, I don't consider that at all a factor.

If you actually compare the songs on ADTOE to their supposed I&W counterparts - they're actually nothing alike.

I hate stupid rumours that fans take seriously without any basis in reality.

Tool fans i'm looking at you.

As cool as it would be, I think WFS will be the only I&W song on this DVD, because every song has been on a DVD, except WFS

I want to see a good live version of 6:00 recorded, please.

Or MAYBE the original version of Surrounded. 6:00 definately
