Hmmm. Then again, the fact that they were playing Radio City probably clued many fans in to the fact that it would be a special/DVD show anyways.

It is odd that they haven't announced anything, especially considering that (AFAIK) every show is on sale already.

A lot longer than this, I'm sure. 3 months?

I can't remember how far in advance, but it was unusually far in advance in comparison to when North American dates are announced and tickets go on sale. For some reason I keep thinking it was about 5 months in advance, but I could be wrong. But IIRC that show was announced much earlier than the rest of the leg of the tour.

edit: Did some digging and found out when the Radio City show was first announced - Dec 21, 2005 and 2 days later tickets went on sale. So not quite 3.5 months in advance of the show. The rest of the tour dates were announced about 3 weeks later. It should also be noted that they also highlighted the fact that the Radio City show was going to be filmed for a DVD and CD release when they announced the Radio City date.

Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Yeah, this is how I remembered it, thanks for confirming.  I can only imagine that the delay may be production related.  Perhaps the band is still figuring out which city works for their budget, as some cities may be prohibitively costly to rent equipment, crew and recording truck.  I dunno.

Jordan has confirmed there will be a South American leg (see the Vokle thread).

Slain

Any idea if the North American setlist this year is going to be much different from the one last year?

Jordan said in his vokle chat that they will "change it up" since the last NA leg. You can expect a different base setlist of older tunes than the last NA leg. I would say it will be a combo of some of the 2nd Europe leg songs (Root, 6:00, TDEN, etc) and some newer tunes that Mangini said that he has been working on for this leg.

Lost Not Forgotten is a certainty, and I have a suspicion we'll see In the Name of God rotated with Trial of Tears as an encore.

I would be happy with either of the two.

Do you have some insider info?

cyberdrummer

I think so, though I'm not sure how reliable it is, so don't hold me to it!

If your information is correct, then I really hope they bring back the outro solo in ITNOG. The song isn't the same without it.

Do you care to share where you may have gotten the info from? I'm just curious.  :)

cyberdrummer

I know someone who knows someone who knows someone who works behind the scenes. Like I said, might not be reliable!

Shadow2222

^ I seriously hope it is reliable! Two amazing songs that I would love to see.

SystematicThought

That means I would probably get Trial of Tears if they look at the setlist from last time they were in Minnesota. In The Name of God was the final song of the set before the encore

Band hasn't paid any attention to that since Mike left, it would be luck of the rotation.

SystematicThought

Eh, either way I am happy.

Anyways, after saying that Nick, then I hope that for sure means that they won't get rid of BITS as the opener just because they are playing a few repeat dates on this NA leg

Not really, they purposedly swapped the encores in Hovet as PMU hadn't been played in Sweden for a long time. Moreover, they made a few adjustments in the setlist rotation which caused the biggest cities (London, Paris, Milano, Madrid) that were touched by the tour to feature setlist A. I'm not 100% sure this was intentional, but if they really are not in the least concerned by who gets what, why would they chose to play the same setlist two nights in a row, and more than once, if not to alter the flow?

ResultsMayVary

I think they are still paying attention to the setlists of prior shows, but not as much since they're primarily playing over half of ADTOE at the shows and the older songs they are playing now haven't really been played that much over the past few tours.

Valdyyyy

some oldschool fan here knows if they are comin to Wien every year ? or just past 3 concerts in Gasometer ?  i hope they do man..

RaiseTheKnife

Still no venue confirmation for the DVD??  Or am I missing something?  Assume its the Paramount shows, but still nothing from the band on this.

Nope. No news.

Shadow2222

South American tour dates were just announced! I would create the thread and link to it, but I'm on my phone.

Progmetty

Do we have a "upcoming set list expectations" thread somewhere? Can't find it.

I'm looking forward to hear the transition from TROAE into LNF.

Let us hope they didn't drop the rotation as they did in the latest asian Leg... I would be disappointed.

Welp...  :( No setlist rotation thus far.
To be fair, the actual tour hasn't even started yet. The opener doesn't start playing with until tomorrow.

TAC

Rotation or not, that's a solid setlist being played in the US this summer. I am very much looking forward to seeing it.
