Interesting.....wonder if they'll do the first North American run throughout October/November of this year?

I think JP said in an interview that the tour wouldn't start until 2014, so I doubt it.

Correct!

Here's hoping for a Swedish date.

Hope they come to Gothenburg and not Stockholm as always. I don't have any friends who like Dream Theater, so I don't know if it's worth going to Stockholm alone.

JayOctavarium

I would very much appreciate it if Dream Theater came to Indonesia. We are an extremely dedicated fan base and many of us have not been able to experience Dream Theater live. Also, I have much respect for Mike Portnoy, who is one of my idols and a drum god.

I really wish they come somewhat close to Pisa, where I'll be moving to in a few months. Florence (like they did in 2004) or Pistoia (2002) would be great, but Rome is fine too.  :tup

DreamerTV

Less then 10 hours till the italian DT gigs announcement... It's like christmas eve right now!

Grizz

Hopefully they come to Connecticut again on the American Leg. They haven't been in this state since PN09 and the long car rides aren't pleasant.

This is why I love living in a Los Angeles suburb

shows are never more than an hour and a half away (that's with traffic)

Unless they are in Anaheim, which is like 2.5 with bad traffic but the venue is worth it

Any speculating about show format with the given info??

TheAtliator

I notice 3 or 4 shows in a row sometimes.. does that make Evening With a lot less likely?

ALL SHOWS WILL BE 'AN EVENING WITH DREAM THEATER'

DREAM THEATER ANNOUNCE FIRST LEG OF THEIR EUROPEAN TOUR
IN SUPPORT OF THEIR NEW SELF-TITLED ALBUM
OUT SEPTEMBER 24, 2013

LAUNCHING JANUARY 15 AND WRAPPING FEBRUARY 24, 2014

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR PLANNED FOR MARCH 2014

DREAM THEATER -- John Petrucci on guitar, John Myung on bass, James LaBrie on vocals, Jordan Rudess on keyboards and continuum, and Mike Mangini on drums -- are one of the biggest touring bands in the world having completed a 14-month tour with 110 shows through 34 different countries from 2011-2012 in support of their eleventh studio album A Dramatic Turn Of Events. Now the Grammy-nominated progressive metal titans have announced the first leg of their European tour launching January 15 in Porto, Portugal in support of their new studio album being released September 24; it marks the first self-titled release in the band's nearly three-decade career.

The upcoming tour will encompass 30 cities in 16 countries. The band is also planning to tour North America beginning in March 2014.

DREAM THEATER was recorded at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, New York, with John Petrucci producing and studio luminary Richard Chycki (Aerosmith, Rush) engineering and mixing. The album marks a brilliant new chapter for the always adventurous band, their first to have been written and recorded with drummer Mike Mangini (who joined the band in 2010) wholly integrated into the creative process from the start.

"I see every new album as an opportunity to start over," says Petrucci. "To either build or improve upon a direction that has been evolving over time or to completely break new ground. This is the first self-titled album of our career and there is nothing I can think of that makes a statement of musical and creative identity stronger than that. We've fully explored all of the elements that make us unique, from the epic and intense to the atmospheric and cinematic. We're incredibly excited about DREAM THEATER and can't wait for everyone to hear it."

DREAM THEATER is proud to provide VIP packages for all shows on their upcoming tour (full tour itinerary below). VIP packages include premium seats, exclusive meet and greet with the band, personal photo with the band, signed limited edition collection tour poster, special tour gift, and much more. For more information and to purchase VIP packages and get advance tickets, visit the band's website: https://bit.ly/DTVIPEU. About DREAM THEATER

Progressive metal band Dream Theater formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together, along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess, until September 2010, when Mike Portnoy exited the band. In October 2010, Dream Theater held auditions for a new drummer, and added drummer extraordinaire Mike Mangini to its roster.

In 2012 the band received its first-ever Grammy nomination for "On The Backs Of Angels" in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category.  The song was the first single from their eleventh studio album A Dramatic Turn Of Events (released September 13, 2011 on Roadrunner Records), which had fourteen top 10 debuts around the world (including the U.S., where it entered at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart).

In 2012, DREAM THEATER wrapped up a massive worldwide, headline tour in support of
A Dramatic Turn of Events and will release a new album in September 2013. To date, the legendary progressive metal masters have sold in excess of ten million records and DVDs worldwide.

No swedish date?  :(

:sadpanda:

Perhaps on the 2nd leg of the European tour then.
There are 3 days between the shows in Copenhagen and Helsinki - don't lose your hope! ;) I bet a Swedish and/or a Norwegian date will be announced later.

cyberdrummer

I'll be at the London show (and possibly Wolverhampton).

cyberdrummer

I notice there's a big gap between the Copenhagen and Helsinki shows - perhaps space for a Sweden date?

Nihil-Morari

Great that they've moved back to the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam for the Holland gig. How much I loved seeing them in my own hometown, that hall is so much better suited for DT.

cyberdrummer

I don't mind them sticking with Wembley Arena, but I hope they revert to a standing setup downstairs. All seated last time dampened the atmosphere somewhat.

cyberdrummer

Yeah I was quite surprised by that, not sure the last time they didn't play Glasgow.

Wow, no Budapest this time around. I'll need to figure out something, there's no way I'm missing them on this tour...

cyberdrummer

I know it's unlikely, but I still wonder if they'll play a few special shows before Christmas. It just seems a little odd to have such a big gap between album release and the tour.

DreamerTV

Once again i'll see them in Padova (last time was in 2007 for the CiM tour) but this time they'll play in a smaller venue, which anyway has become the main venue for all the artist who come to play in that city.

I may consider to see them at the Wembley Arena, mainly for the venue itself, hoping for a good attendance.

nikatapi

Νο Greek dates, can't say i didn't expect this. Hopefully there will be a 2nd European leg for us Balkans (and Turkey)

tartarus250

So have I picked this up correctly if this is the first leg of the European tour does that mean there may be a second leg with a Scottish date? If I remember correctly this is what happened last time I am keeping everything crossed hoping!!!
